for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

-Romans 3:23-24-

This past week, Lindbergh Drive just outside of our church building has been an epicenter for trucks. Large trucks, small trucks, orange trucks, white trucks all with one mission, to tear up the old pavement. The beeping and honking and scraping made studying nearly impossible. The experts were out, dressed in dirty jeans, construction hard hats, and yellow vests. I knew our road was in good hands – the experts were out.

When I arrived at church Sunday it was quiet. The trucks and workers were off for the day, and the work had been done. All of the old beat up and weathered road surface was torn off and taken away.

I drove gingerly over the torn surface and parked in the adjacent parking lot. As I walked to our building I looked to the West and saw a beautiful, perfectly paved road. An early morning bus was leaving the rough surface, sped up, and confidently crossed the intersection onto the smoothest, newly paved road you have ever seen. What was noisy and scratchy was now quiet and calm. What was dirty and ugly was now clean and beautiful.

I realized Sunday morning walking into church how ugly our sin is – mine and yours. No matter how good we are, or how good we appear to be, under the surface is sin. The Apostle Paul states, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The old, nasty, weathered and worn us needs to be scraped away. This is nothing we could do on our own, we needed an expert- THE expert. Our Lord came to us and was crucified on the cross, scraping all our sins away. It wasn’t pretty- all the world's sin cast on God’s Son. It was an ugly day.

When the spice-toting women arrived at the tomb that Easter Sunday it was quiet. The soldiers were gone, the tomb was empty and the work had been done. All of the nasty consequences of sin were taken away. The tomb was now clean and beautiful and empty. The angels had something to say, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he is risen!”

Join us Sunday as we celebrate the redemption we ALL have that came by Jesus Christ our Lord.

I can’t wait!

The local community market is working to improve healthy food access in our community by rescuing food from local grocery stores, local farmers and redistributing it to any and all local families. In this way, they're reducing food waste while also making good food more accessible.

This outreach opportunity gives our church the chance to actively show the love of Jesus just up the road and in our community at large!

🍎What do our wonderful Market Assistant volunteers take care of?
Stocking the market and produce shelves, unloading and sorting grocery rescue donations, repackaging bulk food items, packing dry food boxes for community distribution, sorting produce boxes, composting food and recycling containers, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces along with many other jobs within the shifts that can be of help.
