Mother Rebecca Needs A Favor From You!

by Mother Rebecca

I am looking forward to being with all of you here at Transfiguration this coming weekend! Last weekend, with First Informed Communion and Baptisms, our attendance was phenomenal. All three services were full, the music was joyous, and our Fig Family felt as though it had been re-membered, just as Mother Erin described in her sermon. This weekend, I need a favor from you: come back, fill our pews again, and join your voice to ours as we praise God and break bread!

That’s not the only favor I need from you. If you are not actively involved in ministry and fellowship with us, I need you to reach out to Gabby Guion, our Minister for Congregation Life, or to Fr. Ted or me. Transfiguration is blessed with many ministry groups – from the Bookstore to the Clothes Horse, from the Food Pantry to Austin Street Center, from Altar Guild and Acolytes to Lectors and Sound Technicians, from Greeters to Ushers. These ministries serve our Fig Family and our community, and all of them are seeking new members. What’s more, we have numerous fellowship groups who are emerging from pandemic seclusion. Open Door, St. Elizabeth’s, Episcopal Men’s Fellowship, Foyer Groups, book clubs, prayer circles, and more are all meeting in person again. So, if you’re not actively involved in ministry and fellowship here, I need to ask you to get involved. Transfiguration needs you to get involved!

While I’m asking for favors,

Adopt an Angel Tree Angel

The Salvation Army and Fig Food Pantry Angel Tree programs offer opportunities to bring joy to Metroplex-area children and disabled adults this Christmas.

There are currently 72 Angels on the Angel Tree hoping to be adopted: The Salvation Army Angels and the Transfiguration Food Pantry Angles are children with a need and a wish and the Forgotten Angels are disabled seniors who need our help.

Last weekend we kicked off our efforts with over 130 Angels being adopted. Now is your chance to join in this opportunity to extend love and caring. Stop by the Angel tree in the Gathering Space and our volunteers assist you to adopt your perfect angel. You can return gifts throughout November.

Once Again, Beware Phishing Emails!

We have been informed that a number of our parishioners have received phishing emails from scammers pretending to be Transfiguration staff members. We take information security very seriously and ask that you also remain vigilant in order to prevent fraud.

Here are a few precautions to take:

  • Confirm the sender’s identity before replying to email requests and before opening attachments or clicking on links, even if they appear to come from a legitimate source. All church communications will come from email addresses formatted as follows (Name)@transfiguration.net.
  • We are no longer listing full email addresses on our website or in E-News. You will see a person's name that links you to a contact form. This helps us prevent unauthorized use or access to our email addresses.
  • Our staff at Transfiguration will never solicit contributions from a personal account. If you have questions or concerns about a request, you may always contact our Parish Administrator, Cathleen Dolt.
  • If you have received suspicious messages from gmail.com or other domains, please avoid clicking links and report the abuse via https://support.google.com/mail/contact/abuse
