Global Water Dances (GWD) celebrate water and life through the art of dance. In parallel, we are aware that environmental actions are needed. One day, every two years, 80+ cities from around the world participate in the GWD event. From Beijing, China to Zadar, Croatia, choreographers take on local water issues through workshops, dance activism, and dialogue.

On June 12, the Flint, MI community will come together for their second participation in GWD. This performance will take place at Flint's Riverbank Park, located immediately north of Downtown Flint. This is a free event & open to the public.

This event is a celebration of togetherness and healing through dance. As a project, it showcases the strength of Flint’s young artists as agents of change and activators of positive momentum.

Performers include: Children’s Performance Workshop, Flint Youth Ballet, Flint Repertory Theatre Education, and FSPA Faculty / Câmbio: Canja de Boa (Brazilian Jazz)

Message from the executive office
There is so much excitement at FIM for a summer packed with a great variety of music, dance, and theatre offerings. It really does feel good to be rejoining the world for live performances. There’s music at FIA every Friday all summer long. Theatre is showcased at a different neighborhood each Saturday in June for the launch of the Flint Mural Plays. Our dancers will participate for the second time in the Global Water Dance project at Riverbank Park on June 12. And it is all FREE!

This week we share an invitation from Allegro to join them in volunteer service and share your time and talent for the benefit of FIM. We are endlessly grateful for the support they have provided for decades. From furnishing wonderful receptions following Faculty Concerts to feeding our symphony musicians during long rehearsals, they do so much, so well. We’ve observed they also have a lot of fun in the process. We hope you’ll consider it!

Another beautiful weekend awaits. Enjoy and stay healthy!

Sincerely,
Rodney Lontine
