Children's Programs
1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler.
The goal is to read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten- and yes you can repeat books! We know that all kids have favorites! If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. By the time they start kindergarten, it's possible to have read 1,825 books together!
Not only will your child benefit from having a larger vocabulary, and more interest in reading, but studies have shown that reading to a child daily is an early indicator of academic success. The bonding time while you read to/with a child is possibly one of the most wonderful benefits!

on the Town Hall front steps, StoryWalk will be DELAYED.
So sorry! I will install this StoryWalk as soon as it is safe to do so. Pages are set up for walkers to read each laminated page of a story (attached to stakes) and installed around the library. This is a great way for readers to enjoy and interact with a story in an outdoor setting, while promoting physical activity. Start right outside our door on School Street, and make your way around the building. Please social distance. Thank you!
StoryWalks were created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, in partnership with the

Community
The Dunbarton Public Library to receive NH State Library ARPA grant funding in 2022.
We are pleased to announce that we were selected and will be awarded $13,745.03 in funding through the Institute for Museum and Library Services' "Grants to States" program. The grant funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Act Plan of 2021 and is being facilitated by the NH State Library.
Later this year the library will use the grant award to purchase mobile book shelving platforms that roll away to increase floor space, and to purchase a Meeting Owl Pro. The flexibility that mobile shelving offers will be beneficial in getting back to offering many of our traditional in-person programs. The Meeting Owl Pro will allow any program or meeting to be virtual.

February 22, 2022 at 6:30 PM
DES
The Internet Crimes Against Children (“ICAC”) Task Force and the Dunbarton Police Department have partnered together to present "Social Media: A Predator's Playground." This event is free and open to the general public.
Learn about the dangers that teens face every day. In doing so, we’ll discuss how computers, cell phones, iPads, digital cameras, gaming systems, social networking applications, and internet blogs all play a role in placing students and families at risk. This 1.5 hour presentation is specifically geared towards parents, educators and community leaders who are looking to better understand the technology available to teens today and the way in which child predators use it to exploit them.
Please RSVP to Chief Christopher Remillard at chrisremillard@gsinet.net.
