SENIOR CENTER REOPEN
PHASE IN PLAN
Hello Tallahassee Senior Center (TSC) Participants!

We are excited to share with you that beginning this week, indoor activities will begin to be phased in. It is our goal to reopen in a low-risk, safe as possible, methodical manner to provide opportunities for you to participate in your regular activities.

Participants are strongly encouraged to have been fully vaccinated (vaccine+2 weeks) before attending an inside activity.
How Will This be Done?
Activities at this time are only open to registered TSC participants. If you attended classes prior to COVID-19 closure in March 2020, and have a completed Participant Registration Form on file, you will be notified when your activity is being scheduled. At this time, only the Auditorium and Art Studios will be used for activities. The first phase includes activities that can accommodate 6 feet distancing and no sharing of equipment or materials. These activities will be phased in through May 17. Examples of those activities include crafts, quilting, fitness, guitar, small groups, and art classes.
What to Expect When You Visit
For everyone's safety, at this time, the Tallahassee Senior Center is open with safety measures in place. Things that are a bit different:

  • The Senior Center is not open for congregating of any kind, including dining, drop-in guests, games, or common area socialization.
  • You must be pre-registered for an activity to be admitted into the TSC.
  • You will be directed to your activity space and may not visit other areas of the building.
  • You must leave at the conclusion of the activity
  • If you do not feel well or experience new symptoms, please do not come to the Senior Center. Symptoms include but are not limited to cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath, or flu-like symptoms.

Activity schedules may change every 4-6 weeks as new groups are welcomed back and more spaces are available for use. Please note, all conditions are subject to change as COVID-19 circumstances change!

At this time, the following INDOOR PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES are in place:
INDOOR PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

  • Follow all current safety protocols: wear a mask, physically distance, hand sanitize, etc.
  • Self-screen. You will be informed of the screening questions at the time of pre-registration and instructed not to come if answering “yes” to any of the questions.
  • Pre-registration required. No walk-ups or drop-ins.
  • Agree to the COVID Waiver prior to participation.
  • You will be temperature screened when entering the building and must have a temperature below 100.4.
  • Do not arrive at TSC more than 15 minutes prior to the start of activity. You may be asked to wait in your car if arriving earlier.
  • You will be permitted only in the activity in which you are registered.
  • You are expected to go to your selected chair or area in the designated space and remain in that space for the duration of the activity (with the exception of using the restroom). Chairs may not be moved, and participants may not change spaces.
  • Bring your own water bottle.
  • Do not bring refreshments to share during any of the activities. Activities involving food being served and eating inside will not be scheduled at this time.
  • You are expected to leave the building at the conclusion of the activity. The Center is not open for congregating of any kind, including dining, drop in visits, informal games, or gathering in common areas or lobbies.
  • Immediately report if you find out you are positive for COVID-19.

We realize these are very different operating practices than we are used to at the TSC. But we are encouraged to be moving toward reopening – even if it is baby steps. Please bear with us and be patient as we navigate these changes in how activities are offered. Some activities will continue to be offered via Zoom, Outdoors, and drive throughs as we phase in indoor classes. We are about as anxious as you are to reopen, but remain committed to doing it as safely as possible in the best interest of everyone’s well-being.
Thank you for being resilient over the past year. We hope to see you soon!
