Members of the Campus Community,

In keeping with our commitment to share important information during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are notifying you that two members of the campus community who are or recently have been on campus have tested positive for COVID-19. Both are working with their respective city/county health departments.

The individuals are currently in isolation or quarantine. The Alliance City Health Department is assisting with contact tracing and notification efforts. Persons who have had close contact with the campus community members will be notified by the Alliance City Health Department in accordance with standard public health principles.

Our campus community members are being supported and monitored by the institution and health department staff. No details will be released about the individuals to protect privacy. A negative COVID-19 test will be required before these individuals can return to active campus life.

The University has established a Confirmed Cases Reporting web page that will be used in the future to provide updated data regarding confirmed positive cases on campus. Please visit this site regularly to stay informed.

As we continue to battle this global pandemic, we’d like to remind students, faculty, and staff that they should conduct symptom monitoring daily. If you are experiencing symptoms, please reach out to your primary healthcare provider, or the Student Health Center at (330) 596-7995 if you are a student on campus, for assistance. Be certain to call the provider BEFORE going to the office.

We know that this is a stressful time, and we encourage you to access available resources as you face the challenges of this global health crisis and its impacts on your life. The Office of Counseling Services remains available to meet student needs through e-therapy sessions. Faculty and staff can access confidential and professional support for work/life matters via our partnership with Impact Solutions .

As we face this ever-changing situation together, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority. The institution has protocols in place – via its Emergency Management Plan and accompanying Crisis Communication Plan – to effectively manage the situation. In addition, there are a number of groups on campus that are working to make timely and thoughtful decisions specific to COVID-19 based on the latest and best information available. Staff from Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, representatives from the Alliance City Health Department, faculty members from the University’s health sciences programs, and staff from across the University are involved. As these groups continue their efforts, additional details will be communicated.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through the complexities of this continually-evolving situation.
