This morning the Fairfax County Health Department announced that the remaining Phase 1c essential worker groups are now eligible to register to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Health Department expects to move into Phase 2 by April 18. See below for more details.

Vaccine Registration Now Open for All of Phase 1c
Beginning today, April 7, individuals who live or work in the Fairfax Health District that fall into the following categories are now eligible to register to get a COVID-19 vaccine:
  • Finance
  • Information Technology and Communication
  • Media
  • Legal Services
  • Public Safety (Engineers)
  • Other Public Health Workers
  • Barbers, Stylists, Hairdressers

See below for specific category details. The Fairfax Health District includes Fairfax County, the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church, and the towns of Clifton, Herndon and Vienna.

Employees should be prepared to show some form of work-related identification or paystub as the vaccine appointment could be offered by one of our vaccine partners that may require ID.

These are the last seven priority groups of essential workers in Phase 1c as outlined by the Virginia Department of Health. The Health Department is now accepting registrations for everyone included in Phase 1c.
The Health Department expects to move into Phase 2 by April 18 in accordance with federal and state goals for the COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

As a reminder, Fairfax County is not participating in the statewide registration system at this time. You should register on our website. If you previously registered on the statewide system, please register with Fairfax County to ensure you are invited to schedule an appointment.

The following groups who live or work in the Fairfax Health District are included in this category, based on CDC and VDH lists:
  • Communication equipment repair and maintenance
  • Computer and office machine repair and maintenance
  • Computer systems design
  • Consumer electronics repair and maintenance
  • Data center operators
  • Data processing, hosting and related services
  • Infrastructure construction or restoration
  • Internet publishing and broadcasting and web search portals
  • Internet and cellphone technicians
  • Software publishers
  • Telecommunications

Media
The following groups who live or work in the Fairfax Health District are included in this category, based on CDC and VDH lists:
  • Broadcasting (except Internet)
  • News dealers and newsstands
  • News syndicates
  • Newspaper publishers
  • Periodical publishers

Legal Services
The following groups who live or work in the Fairfax Health District are included in this category, based on CDC and VDH lists:
  • Court reporting and stenotype service
  • Courts
  • Judicial system operations support staff
  • Lawyers and others providing legal services
  • Parole offices and probation offices

Public Safety (Engineers)
The following groups who live or work in the Fairfax Health District are included in this category, based on CDC and VDH lists:
  • Construction, mining, and forestry machinery and equipment rental and leasing
  • Emergency communication centers
  • Engineers
  • Heavy and civil engineering construction

Other Public Health Workers
The following groups who live or work in the Fairfax Health District are included in this category, based on CDC and VDH lists:
  • Administration of public health programs
  • Research and development in the physical, engineering and life sciences
