NEWS AND EVENTS
Dear Serra Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that this is our final week of Spotlight on Serra. We will resume the Spotlight e-newsletter when we return to school in the August. During the summer, we will send families a summer communication with all information pertinent to a healthy start to the new academic year. We are continuing to finalize exact bell schedules but will be sending content to families in early June with finalized details.

I would like to take the time to once again thank our Serra community for their patience and trust in us this year. What an incredible school year this turned out to be! We are so proud of our faculty and staff for their ability to adapt to the changing times that this year has thrown at us and continue to provide our students with Serra's trusted academic rigor. We are also extraordinarily proud of our Padres, who were forced to change their schedules numerous times, while continuing to grow and thrive. This year will certainly go down in history as being anything but normal and the overall resilience and dedication shown across the board shows me that Serra is certainly showing its finest side.

This week we are celebrating our seniors. We are so proud of the Class of 2021 and we are thrilled to celebrate their graduation on campus this Saturday. No matter where our alumni are in the world, we are fortunate that they hold the Serra brotherhood close to their hearts. While the pandemic has forced us to change our graduation ceremony traditions, it will not stop our community from rallying around our graduates. Be sure to check out our Class of 2021 Celebration page on our website! Go Padres!

Sincerely,

Charlie McGrath
Principal

Let us own it, and let us have that reflection empower us to dive deeper into what it means to be a Padre -- now, and forever.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021 Valedictorians!
Shayan Kothari

Class of 2021 Valedictorian Shayan Kothari ‘21 will head to Duke University in the fall, armed with values he said he amplified during his four transformational years at Serra.
In his speech, which was broadcast during the virtual Senior Academic Awards night on May 20, Shayan highlighted his belief that, “a Padre is someone who puts the needs of others before their own, holds peers accountable and never loses faith during a challenge -- a Padre can overcome and conquer all odds,” he said.

Nicholas Button

If you ask Nicholas Button ‘21 what drives his motivation, he’ll tell you that it’s his parents’ encouragement to always try his hardest.
“My parents made a ton of sacrifices to let me come to Serra - I have always appreciated them  encouraging me to do my best in everything I do,” he said. “I am happy that I have been successful at Serra but my parents cared more about hard work rather than the outcomes.”

Justin Anderson

They say a dream does not become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Class of 2021 Valedictorian Justin Anderson ‘21, blended four years of rigorous honors and AP classes, Padre baseball and basketball and a side hussle home business that highlighted his value of hard work.
“Through the teachers and coaches and the large Serra community, you learn the value of hard work and how not shying away from it will help you in every area of your life,” Justin said.
