In this 4 hour workshop you will learn how to use our Age-friendly Mentor Kit that shares the fundamentals of how to launch and execute age-friendly projects and activities with an intergenerational mentoring training component, and how age-friendly initiatives are important to strengthening and building inclusive communities.
The purpose of the Age-friendly Mentor Toolkit is to enlighten people on how they can start age-friendly initiatives in their own communities, and how this can be done with a mentoring component that benefits all members of their community as they proceed with workplace or community development projects.
Through the duration of this interactive workshop, we will cover the essentials of what is required to undertake age-friendly projects or activities in your workplace or community. You will learn how to use the Age-friendly Mentor Kit designed for use in Atlantic Canada. The Kit will help you to conduct a workplace or community assessment, identify potential projects, build your team, engage community champions, develop a budget, secure funding, and successfully coordinate people, resources and community support to bring your project from ideation to fruition.
The resources provided throughout the workshop are based on the core principles of the World Health Organization, The 8 Domains of an Age-friendly Community and the direct experience of our Age-friendly Cities Committee that has 8 years experience. A strong theme and central goal of this age-friendly workshop is to use the Mentor Kit to promote learning, understanding, and mutual respect amongst all generations to build stronger and healthier age-friendly communities across Atlantic Canada.
