5-12-2020  via Zoom

Our weekly Face-to Face meetings and activities into May are suspended. Meetings will be held online. Weekly updates will be sent  via  E-Newsletters and by email as necessary.

Here is a recap of the online meeting from this past Tuesday and announcements:

14 members were able to join our meeting on Tuesday and it was nice to "see" Connie with us today. Thank you Harris for setting it up.The meeting was led by President-Elect Cathy Smith.
  • Our Division Council Meeting will be held via Zoom. It's next Thursday May 21 at 6:30pm. Our club is hosting so it would be super to have a nice showing. Here's a chance to hear what other clubs are doing and meet other Kiwanians! You will receive the login information soon.
  • Last week in the newsletter we highlighted the Learning for Life program. Editor note: the date of their annual celebration banquet is August 31st, not the 21st.
  • We were informed that the annual Florida District Kiwanis Convention will be cancelled. It was a difficult decision but  the well being of all must be considered. Rachel and Lt. Gov. Tina suspect something is in the works for a Zoom conference so stay tuned! Metro-McGregor sends our sincere thanks to Gov. Allen, the FL Kiwanis staff and leadership team for your efforts in putting the conference together.

  • Several members are helping Lee Military Support with a new "Scrubs of Love" project that can be done from home! Who else is interested?

  • Have you heard? Kiwanis International is temporarily waiving new member fee for existing Kiwanis Clubs. Our board has also approved such waiver for district and club fee's through September 30th, 2020. Annual dues will be collected October 1st for all members for the 2020-2021 year. Are you receiving this newsletter and have wanted to learn more about Kiwanis?  Are you reading this newsletter and want to ask a community member or friend to join? Are you a former club member and thinking about sharing your time and talents with others again? We'd love to hear from you!
Members, now is the chance to make the ask! Let's reel them in and offer them the opportunity to be part of Kiwanis, specifically to be part of something special as a member of our club.

Our work as Kiwanians is valuable to our community and we will take extra proactive measures to ensure the safety of everyone yet help meet the needs of our community. As our county and state begin the transition to reopen in phases please continue to monitor and use good judgement when leaving your home.

For those that want to join the online meetings:
Zoom is a reputable and safe online program. It is endorsed by businesses and organizations such as Kiwanis International. You can use your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Steve Hess has volunteered to help talk you through it, just give him a ring.

Dining book fundraiser;  As we see restaurants starting to re-open, dining books are back on for sale. If you know of any restaurants in the book that are not re-opening or what their status is, please let Todd know. We need to get books sold to help us with projects for the upcoming year. Thank you to Ft. Myers Beach Chamber for promoting and selling them.
