A good concrete illustration of the Blessed Trinity is an equilateral triangle. Such a triangle has three sides equal in every way, and yet distinct from each other. There are three sides, but only one triangle. As we see in this illustration, each Divine Person is different from the other two, but all three are God. Each one is God, distinct from the two others, and yet one with them. The three Persons are equal in every way, with one nature and one substance: three Divine Persons, but only one God.
The dogma of the Holy Trinity is the greatest mystery of Christian teaching. We know something about it only because God has revealed it through the Incarnation of the Son and the sending of the Holy Spirit. The work of the early Church was largely devoted to refuting Trinitarian heresies, and this mystery remains so inaccessible to our human reason, that it is difficult to talk about it even today without unwittingly positing something potentially heretical.
Though the human mind can never comprehend it, we can come closer to an understanding through the language the Church has developed over the centuries. The Catechism of the Catholic Church points out the three realities about the Trinity which are easily misunderstood:
The Trinity is One. We believe not in three gods, but in one God in three persons: “The divine persons do not share the one divinity among themselves but each of them is God whole and entire” (253).
The divine persons of the Trinity are truly distinct from one another. “’Father,’ ‘Son,’ and ‘Holy Spirit’ are not simply names designating modalities of the divine being, for they are really distinct from one another … they are distinct from one another in relations of origin: It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds” (254).
The distinction of persons in the Trinity “resides solely in the relationships which relate them to one another … While they are called three persons in view of their relations, we believe in one nature or substance … the Father is wholly in the Son and wholly in the Holy Spirit; the Son is wholly in the Father and wholly in the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit is wholly in the Father and wholly in the Son” (255).
Through Baptism, every Christian is called to share in the life of the Blessed Trinity, “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” We share this life in the darkness of faith in this life and in eternal light in the next.

A reminder, beginning this weekend, May 29-30, per the CDC and Governor Walz's recent guidance, masks will be optional to wear when attending Mass here at our parish. If you are more comfortable wearing a mask, you may continue to do so. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, including clergy, will continue to wear masks to distribute Holy Communion to the faithful for a couple of weeks.
Next weekend, June 5-6, the social distancing requirement in the church pews will be removed, except the section by the North Entrance/handicap doors. We'll continue to keep that section open to every other pew for a couple of weeks for those parishioners who may need more time to adjust to these changes. All doors will be open for use in the church again over this weekend. Ushers will also no longer be dispensing hand sanitizer to parishioners as they enter the church. However, hand sanitizer will still be placed at all entrances for optional use.

Cousin Braxton was our Mystery Reader on Friday, and while t took us some time to guess who it was we were so excited when we finally got to see him! Braxton is a first grader (almost second grader!) at Presentation and his cousin Benny is in Ms. Sara's class. Preschoolers love it when we run into siblings and cousins during our day in school.

2021 Catholic Services Appeal
The 2021 Catholic Services Appeal is getting ready to roll out for this year. The 2021 theme is “Together in Hope” which is most fitting in these challenging times. This Appeal is wonderful as it reminds us that as a Christian people, we are one family in faith, who need Jesus first and foremost in our lives, as well as one another. Your participation will help support ministries that serve the poor, support life and strengthen our Faith.
