332 OBAT students took 10th grade board exams

332 students from OBAT’s educational projects took the Secondary School Certificate board exam (SSC exam) on September 15th.

New water wells provide water to 650 people


Two new water wells were recently constructed in Raufabad and Rangpur, thanks to a generous gift. The two wells together will provide clean water to approximately 650 people.

27 new computers expand access to online education


OBAT's 11 computer training centers offer robust instruction and coaching in online learning as well as courses such as graphic design and several programming languages. These centers also feed the ever increasing demand for freelancers in these fields. The addition of 27 new computers recently in the cities of Syedpur, Dhaka, Chittagong and Rangpur, thanks to a contribution made by OBAT Friends of Chicago, will increase the number of students who can access and benefit from e-learning as well as provide greater resources to those who are acquiring specialized knowledge of computer programs.

Eye Camp addresses common ophthalmic problems

An eye camp was organized by OBAT's Rangpur Clinic in collaboration

with Community Eye Care & Research

Center.


About 300 patients received consultation from Ophthalmologists in

the Community Eye Care & Research

Center's team. They were prescribed treatment or set up for follow up treatment at the Center.


OBAT's scholarship student is thriving in news media


Tanvir had to drop out of technical college due to his family’s financial struggles; he is one of 9 siblings. OBAT offered him a scholarship to pursue his education. While doing so, Tanvir was also actively involved with the Think Tank. He pursued his love of photography as well by taking photos for Think Tank projects.

OBAT's Founder and President is in Bangladesh


Mr. Anwar Khan, OBAT's President and Founder, always looks forward to his trips to Bangladesh. Covid put a damper on his visits but he is back now where he is happiest- meeting his extended family in the camps, the on the ground team and the implementing partners. He is doing what he does best- listening to the beneficiaries to determine the best way to serve them; training the staff to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency and forging partnerships that will further elevate OBAT's mission. Clothing created by Rohingya women is displayed at Tourism Fair


The adept sewing skills of Rohingya women training at OBAT's Women Empowerment Center, got displayed at the recent tourism fair organised by Cox's Bazar's Chamber of Commerce. The popularity of their products was evident from their high volume of sales which will be deposited to their co-op fund as capital.


OBAT's Health Clinic Receives High Praise


North South University, known locally as NSU is a renowned private institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Helal Mohiuddin, a professor at NSU and Project Director of Female Adolescent's Non-Formal Education (FANE) sector for Rohingya refugees, visited OBAT’s health clinic and adolescent learning center for Rohingya refugees. The professor had high praise for the clinic which is locally known as “The Famous Clinic” due to the excellent reputation it enjoys.

OBAT's implementing partner receives a pat on the back!


The office of the Refugee Relief & Repatriation Commission (camp authority overseeing Rohingya relief operations) recognized the efforts of OBAT's implementing partner, Prantic, for its relief projects for the refugees settled in the remote Bhashan Char Island. The RRRC commended Prantic's efforts through a letter of appreciation.
