St. John's Re-Entry Planning

 

Dear SJE Families,

On July 15, parents will receive important, campus-specific information from their child’s division director setting out Phase II of our re-entry plan, including expectations, procedures, and policies pertinent to the reopening of our campuses. That communication will also include a form that all parents must complete and return to St. John’s no later than July 22. The form will ask parents to determine and identify if their child will be returning to campus for the formal start of school or will elect to stay home and participate via distance learning.  

Planning for safe and successful school operations during a pandemic is extensive, highly complicated, and ever-changing. Physical distancing, class lists, facilities planning and much more rely on accurate, and as much as possible predictable information about student attendance. As such, we will avoid unnecessary disruptions to teacher planning, preparation, and instruction. Specifically, St. John’s cannot support any student who requests to move back and forth between campus-based and virtual learning. Nor are we able to support requests for ‘personalized schooling’ (intermittent, brief periods of time at school followed by brief periods of time at home, and vice versa). The School’s general position is that a student who is not well enough to attend school should spend the time away resting and not completing schoolwork. The School will of course accommodate students who have to be absent for COVID-19-related reasons. The following information is very important to consider as parents make their decision on whether to send their child(ren) to school or keep them away:

St. John's Launching Magnus Health on June 23

 

For the upcoming school year, we will be shifting all student medical information to an online database, Magnus Health SMR. There are many benefits to this change, including less paperwork for parents to complete each year and having more accurate information that is accessible to parents and the appropriate employees at our school.

We are also excited that the Magnus system will be able to handle field trip permission forms, handbook acknowledgment forms, and other school-related forms.

St. John's Introducing PikMyKid for 2020-2021

 

Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, St. John's will utilize PikMyKid, a carpool smartphone-app, to enhance afternoon carpool safety and efficiency at our Lower and Middle Division campuses.

Detailed information, including instructions, will be included in the Phase II Re-Entry Plan on July 15.

Personnel Changes Beginning July 1

 

On July 1, St. John's will introduce a new structure to the Advancement and Admissions departments. Gail Kelley (Director of Institutional Advancement) will begin serving as St. John's interim Director of Enrollment Management for 2020 and Carrie Underwood (Donor Relations Coordinator) will oversee and lead the Eagles Fund. 

In order to achieve success in three closely interdependent offices—Admissions, Advancement, and Alumni—a new team structure will be in place for at least the next year. The roles for each member of the new team are as follows:
