Good afternoon,
This afternoon, the CEOs of several large U.S. and European airlines urged political leaders to reopen air travel between the United States and Europe, including a joint COVID-19 testing program.
The Airforwarders Association endorses this initiative as a way to restore passenger and cargo capacity in this indispensable corridor of air transportation. Unfortunately, the European Union began opening up travel to other nations on July 1, but not the United States. As a result of this restriction, AfA members requiring freight transportation services are forced to rely upon inconvenient and costly shipping alternatives. The additional expense and transit time slow commerce and reduce our nation's vital role as a viable trading partner.
We look forward to assisting our partner airlines in this endeavor and receiving your feedback.
Sincerely,
Brandon Fried
Executive Director
