Two months ago, the City announced that it would be cutting the funding for all summer youth programs to meet the revenue shortfall caused by COVID-19. Knowing how important summer programs are for keeping students engaged and productive, Queens Community House, along with other partners and elected officials from across New York City, led an effort to restore Summer Youth Employment Program funding.
As a result, this summer, young people will have the opportunity to participate in a six-week virtual "Bridge" program. Over 300 teens and young adults have enrolled through QCH. They will be placed at businesses across all five boroughs, gaining valuable work experience and having the chance to explore a variety of career options.
