Reconnecting
It has been wonderful to reconnect with our community at both Five Dock Library and The Learning Space at The Connection, Rhodes. We are also excited about nearing the completion of our renovation works at Concord Library and are awaiting confirmation of the exact date for reopening. Please note our conditions of entry and check our Libraries website for the latest updates. Once again, we would like to thank all our visitors for your patience and understanding as we do our best to keep you safe.

We are looking forward to reconnect more as we return to a new normal with restrictions slowly being eased across the state. Stay connected and follow us on social media @canbaylibraries for instant updates.

City of Canada Bay Libraries

Our cogwheels have kept running behind the scenes with admin, phone calls, processing of returns and new items. Some library staff were re-deployed or doing double roles during our closures. While our eLibrary, virtual programs and library memberships have surged, our home library kept operating like a well-oiled machine during this time! Being camera shy creatures and with physical distancing in place, we've had trouble getting our staff members all in one photo, but you all know who you are and we are thankful for your continued effort in delivering home library and social check-in phone calls with vulnerable members of our community. Pictured is our staff member Phillip Jones with a full trunk of items to be delivered.

Make Music Day 2020

Make Music Day is a global celebration of music that takes place on Sunday, 21 June. This year the City of Canada Bay has devised a program of activities for you to celebrate Make Music Day from the comfort of your home. This opportunity is open to musicians and music lovers alike - no previous experience is required. All ages and abilities are welcome!

There are three fun ways to get involved:
  • Sign up for a free online music workshop
  • Record and submit a live performance
  • Add a song to the Canada Bay Beats Spotify playlist

Local businesses are the beating heart of the City of Canada Bay's economy. During COVID-19 response and recovery, they're doing it tough. Council wants to encourage our community to shop, live and love local, so we're offering a $100 prize to all residents who spend $150 or more at a local business - every month!

The Tenants' Union of NSW has published a new online Renters' Guide to COVID-19. The guide covers common issues about renting in NSW during the pandemic and covers topics including eviction, rent reductions and COVID-19 'impacted tenants'. It also includes a rent reduction calculator, a template letter people can use to request a rent reduction, and a template rent reduction agreement.

The Renters' Guide to COVID-19 has been developed to provide legal information about situations that may arise as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It should be read alongside, and in addition to, the legal information and resources provided on your legal rights and obligations in general tenancy fact sheets
