"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

New Podcast Episode!
LTM Ep. 14: Experimenting in Every Role
The Experimenter innovates, pioneers, invents, course-corrects, pivots, etc. And that’s what Delaney and Caroline chat about on this week's episode! They welcome Living the Mission’s #1 fan and CSSA’s Assistant Director for Community Partnerships, John Jackson, '13. He reminds us that when we experiment, there will be failure. But we know that mistakes are proof that we are trying. It’s okay to be humbled, it’s okay to make mistakes, and it’s okay that things aren’t always perfect. Anything worth doing is going to be challenging. So let’s live up to the challenge and experiment in every role we take on!

Our #MyMagisMessage for the week comes from Rachel Halapchuk, a sophomore Psychology major and Leadership Development minor from Cheswick, PA! Rachel has served with Youthability: Short Story Club.

If you had to state your life mission off the top of your head, in one sentence, what would it be?
Always aim to put a smile on someones' face each and every day.

#MyMagisMessage
As a second-semester sophomore, the pandemic has majorly impacted my time here at John Carroll. Last semester I dealt with many challenges, including my own drive to get involved in things that I am inspired by. In high school, service was a big part of my life. I spent hours around my brother's adaptive sled hockey team, teaching disabled youth how to swim and much more. However, the service that made most impact on me was my time with a woman named Megs. Megs ran her own nonprofit that celebrated birthdays for youth that their families were unable to afford. I've learned ever since then that a smile on someone else's face is the thing that brings me the most joy. No matter what service I am doing, my goal is to make someone laugh or smile.

My freshman year at JCU, I was unable to join many organizations or activities, but this past semester I was able to join the CSSA team and I have never been happier. Working with Youthability and seeing the connections that these individuals have with one another has brought me nothing but joy. Creating these friendships through reading short stories has influenced me to strive even harder to create happiness wherever I go. Although, I do not know exactly where life will take me, service has taught me that I will live my life to treat others with respect and keep on smiling.
