Community Update:
This week (Jan 13-19) we have had twelve (12) reportable positive Covid-19 cases within our school.

Please make sure your child(ren) have at least 2 masks with them at school each day. We are passing out a lot of masks to students who forget each morning. We have temporarily adjusted our mask policy for the school. We are requiring masks for all students, staff and visitors starting Friday, January 14 through Friday, January 28.  We will evaluate this policy each week and communicate any changes by Wednesday, January 26.  Our hope is that we are now seeing the peak of this wave of Covid cases and we can go back to our mask optional policy in February.

We are experiencing an uptick in COVID+ cases recently. The cases are presenting themselves as very mild symptoms - sometimes only one symptom. If your child is exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please keep them home.
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Return to school options are as follows:
Obtain a negative test, or
Obtain a doctor's note with an alternate diagnosis, or
Stay home for 5 days (1st date of symptoms = Day 0)

The front office is always willing to talk through scenarios with you since every family dynamic is unique. We appreciate everyone being patient and flexible as we continue to navigate each situation.

We Want Your Input on Uniforms:
Thank you for taking a few moments to provide your insight into the School Uniform Vendor and what you value in school uniform purchasing.

Our Lady of Mt Carmel School's contract with Land's End is set to expire at the end of this year. Based on anecdotal feedback, the School Council and Administration would like more quantitative feedback from parents to inform the decision making process regarding renewing the contract or finding a new vendor for uniforms in the 2022-2023 school year.

Please keep in mind that even if a new vendor is selected, the uniform will not be changing. Land's End and Risse uniform components, including: items with the new logo, female jumpers, and skirts are permitted in future years.

2020-2021 Yearbooks:
If you ordered a yearbook last year in May for the 2020-2021 school year, they will be sent home with your youngest child next Wednesday, January 26.

If you have questions about an order, please email Amy Quinn at amyquinn27@gmail.com.
Chick-fil-A Lunches Day is Coming on Wednesdays!
Starting February 16, we will be offering Chick-fil-A options through Campus Cuisine for lunch on Wednesdays.

Music Notes:
ISSMA
Students who have entered ISSMA Music Contest for band instruments on Jan 29th or ISSMA vocal/piano contest on Feb.5th will receive performance times during the month of January.
CYO Music Contest
The CYO Music Contest will be held on Feb. 19th at Bishop Chatard High School. Our band and our choir will perform at this contest. Anyone still interested in performing in piano, vocal or band instrument please contact Mrs. Richardt or Mrs. Stachowiak by Thursday, Jan 7. Performance times will be announced in early Feb.
Help Needed:
Art: We are also excited to announce that our Art Teacher, Mrs. Hinshaw, will be starting her maternity leave on/about March 1, 2022. She plans to return to complete the school year in May to finish the school year but has decided not to return in August.

We are looking for both a long-term substitute for her maternity leave (exact dates to be determined) and for a new art teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. If you or anyone you know is interested, please complete the application that can be printed here and send it to Mr. Fletcher as soon as possible.
