INGRAM GALLERY | May 2020

As the unity of the modern world becomes increasingly a technological rather than
a social affair, the techniques of the arts provide the most valuable means of insight
into the real direction of our own collective purposes.

- Marshall McLuhan, The Mechanical Bride (1951)

We are grateful to return to the gallery this week as we move closer towards being able to welcome everyone again in person.  The gallery's exhibition schedule will see changes to reflect our shared pause and exhibition dates will be adjusted to fit with our coordinated timelines for renewal.

SEAN YELLAND   Me, Myselfie and I (2019) 36 x 48 inches, oil on canvas

Sean Yelland has finalized a collection of thrilling new canvases that the art world is clamouring to view.  The artist's outstanding vision continually produces arresting works that hold both artful and prescient value.  Our current moment testifies to Yelland's compelling intuition with his thematic preoccupation with concepts surrounding isolation in the modern world.  Speaking of his forthcoming exhibition at the gallery, Yelland claims that it "may well be the best show I've put together."  Please stay tuned to Ingram Art News for details regarding Yelland's Lazy Boy and click here for a preview of some of his newest oils.

SEAN YELLAND Urban Cowboy (2019) 26 x 36 inches, oil on canvas

Living and working in Toronto, Yelland graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1989.  His paintings have been exhibited to critical acclaim throughout Canada and often appear in serial form, which are released to the earnest demand of collectors.  His iconic imagery can be found in prestigious collections and a variety of public spaces.  Yelland profoundly and observantly documents his city of Toronto while his works inescapably gesture toward universal truths of existence.

A series of dazzling new works from the studio of Jane Everett have arrived at the gallery on the heels of a number of the artist's recent achievements.  These newest pieces conjure a dynamic layering of the artist's unique and brimming style while vessels of intense pigment move ever closer to the shore.  Everett's recent Slipstream exhibition is a magnificent collection that was met with artful acclamation while her public Understory was similarly lauded at the Kelowna Art Gallery.
