Good Afternoon-

We hope this message finds you well as the fall semester continues! We are happy to share details associated with our Spring 2023 Housing Processes with you.

The Spring 2023 Housing Process will be available in the Housing Portal at go.wfu.edu/housingportal beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 17, and closing at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 7.

Spring Only Housing Selection (for students returning to campus for the first time this academic year) will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

In addition to housing selection (for students returning to campus for the first time this academic year), as a part of the Spring 2023 Housing Process in the Housing Portal, you will have three options: Room Change Request, Pull-In Request, and Off-Campus Lottery. Additional details about each are available below.

On-Campus Room Changes

Students looking to change rooms on-campus for the Spring 2023 semester may submit a request in the Housing Portal.

  • Requests will be processed in the order they are received.
  • Students will be informed about the status of their requests by November 18 via email.
  • If approved to move, students MUST complete their move between November 28 and December 5.
  • Students will have 72 hours after check-in to complete their move and check out of their old space.
  • Students who are moving to a space that is currently occupied for the fall semester will need to completely check out and return their fall key before winter break and check back into the new space in the spring.
  • To request a room change to or within Block Housing and Residential Engagement Communities, please contact your group leader, as they will work with our office on an updated roster for the Spring semester.

Pull-In Requests

In the event of a vacancy in their room, the remaining resident may pull in a new roommate of choice rather than having a new roommate assigned via Spring Only Housing Selection or by the Office Residence Life and Housing.

  • To pull in a new roommate, the current resident must complete the pull-in section of the Room Change Request form.
Release from Residency Requirement

Wake Forest University views living on campus as integral to a liberal arts education and the Wake Forest experience. In support of that view, Wake Forest University has a six-semester residency requirement.

Students with less than six semesters of housing credit should not make any plans to live off-campus unless they have been released in writing from the residency requirement by the Office of Residence Life and Housing.

Off-Campus Lottery

As a part of the Spring 2023 Housing Process, students with four or more housing credits may choose to enter the Off-Campus Lottery. This indicates a desire to live off-campus prior to fulfilling the residency requirement. As the Office of Residence Life and Housing finalizes the number of students able to live on campus for the spring semester, they will use random selection to release the appropriate number of students.

For more on the Off-Campus Lottery process, please watch the informational video below.

Disability-Related Accommodations

In support of students with disabilities, the Office of Residence Life and Housing has a wide variety of housing and dining options on-campus that can accommodate the vast majority of disability needs. Students who need to request disability-related accommodation should visit our website to begin the request process. For the Spring term, all students should provide complete documentation for consideration by November 15th.

Please note that a release from the University’s six-semester on-campus housing requirement is generally not considered a reasonable accommodation. Most housing or dining accommodations can be made among the current residential facilities on campus. Students seeking accommodation to live off-campus should explain in their request (and in providers supporting documentation) how living off-campus meets their needs in ways the University cannot on-campus.

Spring 2023 Housing Selection

Students returning to the Reynolda Campus for the first time this academic year during the Spring 2023 semester will select their housing for the Spring Semester online on December 7, 2022.

  • Additional details will be provided in early November.
  • You will be required to self-select your actual spring room and meal plan via the Housing Portal.
  • An email from the Office of Residence Life and Housing will be sent to your WFU email account with selection times by December 2.
  • This email will contain specific instructions on self-selecting your spring room and meal plan.
  • Please note that log-on times will be based on Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • An availability list will be available on December 2.
  • Room selection will take place on December 7.
