Monthly Economic Update
Stocks notched a solid gain, fueled by a succession of positive economic reports and a strong start to the first-quarter earnings season. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 2.71 percent while the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 Index picked up 5.24 percent. The Nasdaq Composite led, climbing 5.40 percent.
