Montana PSC Opens Investigative Docket for T&D Efficiency

On July 13th, the Montana Public Service Commission (PSC) voted unanimously to open an investigative docket to examine the role of advanced conductors in helping reduce Transmission and Distribution (T&D) line losses, quickly add substantially more capacity to the grid by reconductoring on existing structures, and improve wildfire resilience by using the low-sag characteristics of the advanced conductors. “I want to thank my colleagues on the Commission in joining me in this action to examine how innovative technologies, like advanced conductors, can be used in Montana to benefit the electric consumer, the environment, and the grid”, Commissioner Pinocci stated following the Commission action. “With this investigative docket, we can gather information from utilities, advanced conductor providers, electric consumers, and other interested stakeholders to guide any policy actions we may consider for how we encourage deployment of advanced conductors in Montana and how we can quickly increase the capacity and efficiency of the Montana T&D system.” To learn more please read the full article in Energy Central

Southern Power Project Management Board (SPPMB) Completes ACCC® Installations in Vietnam

To increase the capacity, efficiency and reliability of their 220 kV Thot Not - Long Xuyen - Chau Doc transmission lines, SPPMB installed 284 kilometers of ACCC® Conductor in the Can Tho and An Giang Provinces of Vietnam. SPPMB selected ACCC® Warsaw size conductor manufactured by PT KMI Wire & Cable. The 46.4 ckm project was completed in three sections, energized in March, June and July.

Existing steel lattice structures were used without modification with spans ranging from 350 to over 420 meters. The lines crossed over several waterways with very wet working conditions. The PCC1 construction crew used twin pullers and tensioners. PLP supplied ACCC® Hardware. ACCC Master Installers Tiep and Truong provided installation support.
UPT Pekanbaru Completes New Substation Connection with High-Efficiency ACCC® Conductor in Sumatra, Indonesia

Supported by construction firm Pusmanpro and engineering firm PT. Rekadaya Elektrika, UPT Pekanbaru completed their New Garuda Sakti Substation connection using Amsterdam size ACCC® Conductor. Conductor Manufacturer PT Karya Mega Sarana (KAMESA) supplied 14 kilometers of ACCC® Conductor for the 150 kV double circuit (1.83 ckm) project, installed on steel lattice structures.

ACCC Hardware was supplied by Dervaux. ACCC Master Installer Rio Wicandaru Pratama & KAMESA Installation Supervisor Desta Priyatno provided installation support.
ACCC® ULS Conductor Offers Added Strength and Reduced Sag

First deployed on a 1.4 kilometer lake crossing in Africa in 2013, The ACCC® ULS Conductor offers greater strength, a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher modulus of elasticity than the standard ACCC Conductor core. The added strength and lighter weight can enable longer spans and the higher modulus and increased stiffness reduces sag and blow out during high wind conditions. Improved stiffness can also reduce sag under heavy ice load conditions.

Dozens of engineers have specified ACCC ULS Conductor for projects, worldwide, and the ULS version of the ACCC Conductor has served our clients well. The ACCC ULS Conductor is available in many sizes and offers transmission engineers added design flexibility.

The ACCC ULS Conductor can be ordered with Type 1350-O fully annealed aluminum or as an AZR version with Aluminum-Zirconium thermal resistant alloy for even higher overall conductor strength.
ACCC AZR Conductor – Expanding the Capabilities of the ACCC® Conductor Using Aluminum Zirconium Alloy

ACCC® AZR Conductor uses either the standard 310 ksi core or the higher strength 375 ksi core that is then wrapped with one or more layers of a high strength, thermal resistant aluminum-zirconium alloy. While conventional ACCC Conductors typically use fully annealed aluminum to maximize conductivity, the ACCC AZR Conductor offers nearly the same efficiency, but far greater overall strength. The added strength and increased tensile modulus mitigates conductor sag under heavy wind or ice loads, or very long spans. To learn more visit www.ctcglobal.com
CTC Global's Free Conductor Comparison Program CCP™ Software is Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP™) software is now available online. The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.

Thank you for using our CCP. We welcome your feedback. For technical support, please contact ccphelp@ctcglobal.com
