Hi everyone
Dan Standish is producing some of Australia's most exciting, stylish and compelling Shiraz under his eponymous label. Coming from a grape-growing family, Dan learnt much of his winemaking skills during the decade or so he spent at Torbreck under Dave Powell. Chief amongst these was a deep passion for and appreciation of old, low-yielding vines and the role they play in the resultant wine.
The 2019 vintage is an exceptional one in the Barossa, producing wines that are rich and powerful, yet in the case of makers like Dan, show particular elegance and great complexity. Unfortunately, it's also a tiny vintage, with quantities produced down significantly, and as such, our allocations are likewise drastically reduced.
The two wines wines offered are nothing short of amazing. The flagship 'Standish' Shiraz is entirely Greenock fruit, organically farmed), whilst stablemate 'The Relic', is mostly Shiraz with a tiny (1%) dash of Viognier included, entirely from the Krondorf sub-region. The wines are utterly compelling, and are the standard-bearers for modern, elegant, refined Barossa Shiraz.
Needless to say, quantities are limited - there's only a couple of cases of each available. Do not miss out on these incredible wines.
Cheers
Stewart, Marcus and Rhiannon.
