New Arrivals
Greetings Friends,

Have you had a chance to welcome your new neighbors yet?

As part of our annual Bare Root Tree Program, The City of Newport has just completed planting 40 new trees throughout town (shown in blue).

Thank you to all those who have sponsored and committed to caring for these new trees. Thanks also to those who have participated in previous plantings (green). This map only shows three years of data, but it's clear to see how even a small sampling of yearly plantings makes a big impact on our shared tree canopy. Thank you for supporting and joining us in our mission to plant for the future.
Have you spotted a new tree on your street?

Volunteers Wanted: Tree Corps
Last month, in observance of Earth Day, we successfully launched our new Tree Corps volunteer program with a series of tree care projects in Morton Park and Miantonomi Park.

Tree Corps volunteers are helping to weed around trees, mulch, and water.
NTC is prioritizing young trees that were planted during the last few seasons for critical care to help ensure that they thrive and reach maturity.

Volunteer teams are led by NTC staff and meet every Wednesday and Saturday (weather permitting). To join us:

  1. Register for a volunteer shift on the our website.
  2. Check your email for location information, as well as possible weather communication.
