Dear Crusaders and Families,

We are just a couple weeks away from the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Below please find reminders and important information regarding orientation, schedule, and safety guidelines. Please read the communication we sent earlier this week about mask requirements and other safety measures, as well as the updated Student-Parent Handbook. If you have questions and concerns about safely returning to school, please read this important article co-written by the deputy director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health and chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Global Health at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals.

2021 - 2022 Student-Parent Handbook

Important Back to School Dates

Tuesday, August 17 – New Student Orientation: Class of 2025 and Transfer Students will report on this day ONLY; REGULAR UNIFORM for pictures. Bring your school tech device.

Freshman and Transfer Students

Check in: 7:45 am

Location: Theater

Ends at: 12:00 pm

Wednesday, August 18 – House Orientation: All Returning Students ONLY; FORMAL UNIFORM for pictures.

This is for RETURNING Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

Class of 2025 and Transfer Students Do NOT Attend

Returning Houses of Cana and Russi

Check in: 7:45 am

Location: Theater

Ends at: 11:15 am

Returning Houses of Pilar and Bolts

Check in: 11:45 am

Location: Theater

Ends at: 3:15 pm

Thursday, August 19 – First Day of Classes: All Students; Regular Uniform

Prior to the start of the school year, students will be required to watch a series of short videos sent to their student email to supplement the information they will receive at orientation.

New Schedule Preview

Most juniors and seniors will have first lunch.

Most freshmen and sophomores will have second lunch.

Friday schedule is a short day. On Mass or Assembly Fridays the schedule will be longer.

Lifetouch School Pictures

School pictures will take place during Orientation.

Looking Our Best for Back to School

As a reminder, students are required to be in full compliance with grooming and uniform guidelines when they return to campus. Please plan for summer haircuts if needed in advance of the start of the school year! If you have not ordered uniform items from the Prep Shop, it is recommended you do so as soon as possible. Our Prep Shop is online ONLY and at this time there are backordered items. Please see the guidelines for additional resources. *We understand that not all students will have formal at Orientation, they should wear regular uniform (Polo, khaki or black pants or skirt, and Riordan sweatshirt). Follow the uniform and grooming guidelines below.

Additional Information and Important Deadlines

Student ID Number

You should have received an email from Mr. Michael O'Brien with your son or daughter's Student ID Number. Please keep track of this number. You will need it to:

Set up an account with SportsNet for participation in Athletics
Set up an account with MySchoolBucks to purchase food in the Cafeteria. New student accounts are ready, if you had previous issues with it please try again. Thank you for your patience.

Athletics Medical Clearance thru Sportsnet

A medical clearance by a doctor is required for all students interested in participating in sports during the 2021-22 school year. This is due ASAP. More Information

Immunization Forms Due ASAP

A copy of a student's immunization record is required for entry into Archbishop Riordan High School. Thank you to those who have already submitted this.

Please submit immunization records to attn: Mrs. Nora Birmingham or email a PDF to nbirmingham@riordanhs.org. You can submit any immunization record from your doctor's office, or you can download a form here.
