Hi ,
Hello, Class of 2025, and welcome to June. June in New Orleans host a medley of excitement, tradition, and celebration intertwined within the soul if the city. Pride Month and Juneteenth both serve as moments of reflection, history, and celebration of culture, community, and life ingrained in the core values and themes of the city. Between the bursts of rain, New Orleanians still find time to celebrate and explore the diverse aspects and people that make the city such a vibrant and unique place Tulanians call home.
During your time at Tulane, find time between the rainy days and your academics to explore the city, your community, and - most importantly - yourself. Allow yourself to get caught up in this laissez-faire: a New Orleans attitude of allowing one to go with the flow, or to let things take their course without interfering. Your time at Tulane is an opportunity to develop your own values and strengthen your networks that will require taking risks and exposing yourself to new ideas and new friendly faces. Our office will be with you every step of the way as you begin this adventure to support and celebrate you through all of your bright days and rainy nights.
In this Navigator, we're introducing a few of our offices and communities dedicated to supporting our students' needs, ideas, identities, and physical/emotional/social well-being. Become familiar with these communities and more while at Tulane all focused in enriching the student experience for all Tulanians.
Questions? We are here to point you in the right direction. Contact our team by emailing orientation@tulane.edu. You'll also find helpful resources on our website, orientation.tulane.edu. Make sure to follow us on Instagram (@tulanenslp) and hashtags #TUNSO21 to get to know our team and learn about resources for new students!

The Office of New Student & Leadership Programs: The BOD Squad
Who are the Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors, or BOD Squad, is a team of upperclass students and former Wave Leaders who work alongside New Student & Leadership Programs staff to plan and implement New Student Orientation and Fall Welcome in August. Each Director works with a professional NSLP staff member to plan New Student Orientation and assists with recruitment, selection, and supervision of our Wave Leaders.
You can check them out on our Instagram (@tulanenslp) and hear some solid advice from their time as first-years. They all cannot wait to meet you all and hope that your NSO will be one you'll remember throughout your time at Tulane and beyond.

This Month: CAST Sessions
|
|
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions:
Prepare for Success
Cultivating Academic Success at Tulane (CAST) is the first step of New Student Orientation and prepares students for academic success and to start making an impact on campus. During CAST, you’ll learn about the academic and support services available at Tulane, get insider tips from current Tulane students, engage with faculty, and prepare for your advising and registration appointment. Students are REQUIRED to attend CAST.
This summer, CAST will be held virtually through the month of June. Please see below for the scheduled dates:
- Session 1: Wednesday, June 2
- Session 2: Thursday, June 10
- Session 3: Tuesday, June 15
- Session 4: Friday, June 18
- Session 5: Monday, June 21
- Session 6: Tuesday, June 29
All new students need to logon to the Green Wave Portal and register for one of the six CAST virtual sessions. Once you’ve registered for CAST, you’ll receive an email at your Tulane.edu email address directing you to the online modules in the Gibson portal. (You’ve used the Green Wave Portal through the admission process, but now that you’re a student, everything happens in Gibson.)
There are several online modules that are part of New Student Orientation, but right now you just need to do the two CAST modules. Once the CAST modules are complete, you’re ready for the live virtual event and your registration appointment!

Accommodation Support at Tulane -
An Introduction to the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility
The Goldman Center for Student Accessibility is committed to ensuring an accessible academic and co-curricular experience for every Tulane student with a qualifying disability. We invite students to meet with our staff to discuss any potential accommodation needs to fully engage in Tulane’s living and learning environments.
Because no two students are alike, our staff members work collaboratively with students to develop individualized plans which eliminate barriers and promote equal opportunities for success.
To ensure that accommodation needs are assessed and implemented in a timely manner, we recommend that new students contact the Goldman Center prior to arriving on campus, whenever possible. For more information, please visit ( https://accessibility.tulane.edu/).

The Carolyn-Barber Pierre Center for Intercultural Life | Multicultural Affairs - Religious Life Council
Dear Tulane Class of 2024,
My name is Corey Olivier. I serve as the Chair for Tulane’s Religious Life Council. On behalf of all of the faith groups on campus I want to welcome you to Tulane and the City of New Orleans.
The next four years will be some of the most exciting, adventurous, challenging, and defining ones of your life. You have chosen to study at one of the best research universities in the world and the demands on you will be great. With that said, the next four years is not the time to put your faith on hold or if you don’t hold to a faith tradition, to stop exploring how faith could play a major role in your life.
Below are numerous faith organizations that you can get involved in at Tulane. Each has been active at Tulane for several years if not decades. Our goal is that you will explore several group to see what each has to offer and make plans to visit them when you get to campus. You can contact each organization you’re interested in individually or you can fill out a Google form with your interest(s) and they can contact you. The Google form can be accessed at the following link - https://forms.gle/rYpjYwUQAbwiq3NbA
We look forward to journeying with you!
Blessings,
Corey J. Olivier
