Ask House Labor and Industrial Relations Committee members to support HB 832!
HB 832
, authored by Rep. Matthew Willard, is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, Thursday, May 7, at 9 a.m. in the House Labor and Industrial Relations Committee.
This bill requires that businesses of 20 or more employees allow those employees to accrue up to five paid sick days a year and requires businesses of fewer than 20 employees to allow employees to accrue up to five unpaid sick days a year.
Not having paid sick leave will have a significant, lasting impact on
ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed)
families who cannot afford to miss work or access health care if they get sick.
ALICE families work hard – often multiple jobs – but still struggle to afford even their most basic needs, including housing, food, transportation, child care, and health care. ALICE families make up 47% of the households in Southeast Louisiana.
