Dear VCS Community,

Many have mused about what day it is amid “shelter in place.” For the Valley Christian Schools community – summer break has begun! As restrictions lift in California, the United States, and around the world, we pray we will all remain healthy and safe. A message from 3 John 2 reminds us of what we wish for every one of you, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

The Warrior community has demonstrated remarkable endurance, patience, and care as we worked together to learn from a distance during extraordinary times. Walking united through this crisis reflected the very best of Valley Christian. But we know that what makes our school truly special is when our campuses are buzzing with enthusiastic and energetic student activity. The big question is, “When can we return to campus for in-person instruction and other program offerings?”

We will ensure the health of our VCS community while respecting the guidelines set by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD). Nevertheless, we are determined to move toward our ultimate goal to resume in-person academic instruction, athletic and artistic activities.

We are planning several scenarios for the 2020-21 academic year referred to in
The Road Ahead – Our Response to COVID-19 . Our principals will provide additional details by July 1 about our plans for opening each campus with attendance and class schedules. Our campuses and community will need to remain flexible throughout the school year while following local, state, and federal guidelines. Our goal is to provide continuity of exceptional education in every scenario.

We will follow, at a minimum, the guidelines of the SCCPHD to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and employees. You will receive further information from us as the guidance continues to evolve. Be assured that we will take all steps necessary to ensure the health and safety of your child. Preparations will include but may not be limited to those outlined in the Priority on Safety (page 2) of The Road Ahead - Our Response to COVID-19 .

COVID-19 will be with us this fall in some way, and perhaps longer. However, the investments in IT infrastructure, faculty training, inter-campus collaboration, innovation, and fiscal responsibility have put VCS in an excellent position to weather this storm. One thing is clear; it will take all of us, under the prayerful guidance and wisdom of our Lord, working together with fierce determination, flexibility, and respect to achieve the best possible outcome.

As plans unfold, we will communicate as needed with our VCS community. We will also continue to post updates to our COVID-19 Response page on the vcs.net website for your reference.

Looking forward,
