Legion Supports Equipment Need at Ed’s House

The Royal Canadian Legion District F Hospital Trust has made a significant donation to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre. With their generous donation of $18,673, Ed’s House was able to purchase much needed critical equipment to enhance patient care at Ed’s House: The ‘Miranti Lift Bath Trolley’ will help support residents at Ed’s House, as they often require bathing needs that were not available to them before they arrived. This important equipment takes into consideration patients individual needs, as the bath lift allows patients who may not be able to sit or stand to access bathing facilities and hygiene care.

How You Too Could Help Our Clients: Become a Brokered Worker!

We wanted to share with you a recent success story from our In-Home Services and how you too could become a Brokered Worker to help our clients

(names have been changed for privacy reasons):

Susan is a 71-year-old recent widow who lives alone. Susan’s mobility has declined significantly over the past couple of years due to Multiple Sclerosis. Susan’s partner and primary caregiver, Gary, passed away suddenly three months ago. She has been finding it difficult to manage day-to-day tasks, and make ends meet financially, without Gary. Because of the *Special Services at Home (SSAH) Subsidy, Susan has been able to hire a Home Help Brokered Worker to assist with the housekeeping, laundry and grocery shopping tasks that allow her to continue living independently in her apartment.

Does becoming a Brokered Worker

sound like a way you'd like to give back? Some positions even pay!

With cyber scams a growing concern particularly for seniors and recognizing Community Care works with many seniors and volunteers, the County is sharing promotions directly with agencies and organizations supporting/interacting with these individuals, to increase awareness about this session.
