Welcome to June - National Safety Month
Summer is here and Project EVERS hopes it will be memorable for you and your family! We will do our part by periodically sharing information that will help us all focus on health, safety, and fun -- everyone should kick off summer with safety in mind.

The National Safety Council (NSC) routinely recognizes June as National Safety Month . In 2020, the NSC will shine a spotlight on timely and pressing topics including:
  • mental health
  • building a culture of safety
  • driving

Meanwhile, below are a few of their tips for a safe, fun-filled June.
Adults need seven to nine hours of sleep each day to reach peak performance, but nearly one-third report averaging less than six hours. The effects of fatigue are far-reaching and can have an adverse impact in all areas of our lives.
Safety performance decreases as adults become tired.
You are three times more likely to be in a car crash if you are fatigued.
Chronic sleep-deprivation causes depression, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other illnesses.
Sleep is important to a healthy immune system -- that is vital in these COVID days.
The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is the deadliest time for teen crashes on our roadways. Parents can play a role in keeping their new teen drivers safe. Check out web resource here designed by and for parents of newly licensed teen drivers. DriveitHOME™ offers a variety of helpful resources you can use to help your teens become safer, more experienced drivers.
Workplace Violence
Every year, 2 million American workers report being victims of workplace violence. We all need to address community and workplace violence by planning and developing emergency action plans. While there is no definite way to predict violence, we can be aware of warning signals that might signal future violence.
