Readington Recognized As One of NJ’s Safest Towns During Hunterdon Board Director’s Community Tour

Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners Director Susan J. Soloway, as part of the Director’s July 21st Community Tour that highlighted safety and agriculture in Readington, presented the Township’s Mayor, Police Chief, and other officials with a Proclamation honoring Readington’s designation as one of the safest places to live in New Jersey, according to Safewise.com.
Readington joins Raritan and Clinton Townships as being named a safest town, along with Hunterdon County’s designation as the Safest County in America to Raise Children.

Hunterdon Emergency Training Facility Upgrade Submitted For
One Million Federal Grant

Hunterdon County’s Emergency Services Training Center (ESTC) upgrade project could be in line for a $1 million funding boost, under a Congressionally Directed Homeland Security Spending Request submitted to the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee by Senator Cory Booker, County Board of Commissioners Director Susan J. Soloway has announced.
Soloway reported at the July 20 Board meeting, “The Board approved a much needed upgrade to the ESTC in 2019 because support for our volunteer fire fighters, rescue squad members and other emergency personnel is a priority.”

Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge To Receive Maintenance Rehab
Last Historic Covered Bridge In New Jersey
Historic Character Will Be Maintained

Hunterdon County’s famous and historic Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge on Rosemont-Ringoes Road in Rosemont, the last historic covered bridge in New Jersey, is scheduled for maintenance and repair under a contract approved by the County’s Board of Commissioners at the June 15th Board meeting.
The $698,267 contract was awarded to the low bidder, Hahr Construction, with $450,000 of the funds covered by a state bridge grant obtained by the County’s Engineering Department.

Sheriff Fred W. Brown Announces Hunterdon County 20th Anniversary
9/11 Remembrance Event
Sheriff Fred W. Brown has announced that Hunterdon County will host the 20th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Event on the Historic Courthouse steps in Flemington, Saturday, September 11th, at 8:30 am. Hunterdon County First Responders who were called into emergency service at the site of the attacks will be honored, as the County traditionally recognizes all those whose lives were taken that day.
