Pandemic Revival Survey Results
Manitoba Chamber Of Commerce, The Winnipeg Chamber Of Commerce & Leger Release Pandemic Revival Survey Results (June, 2020)
According to a
“Pandemic Revival” survey
jointly conducted between May 20 to June 2, 2020 by Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, and Leger Marketing, 60% of their member businesses saw a decline in operations during the pandemic as compared to last year. Almost one-third of consumer/retail/services industry respondents reported a 70% decrease in operational activity.
“What we confirmed in this survey — a follow-up to our March survey that measured the initial impact of COVID-19 on Manitoba business — is that retail, restaurants, tourism, hospitality, recreation, and services have been hit hard, and confidence about the future is shaken,” says Chuck Davidson, President & CEO, Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. “What is of concern is that at least 40% of business owners feel it will take at least a year for business revenues to return to pre-pandemic levels.”

In the middle of a once-in-a-century pandemic, it is difficult for Canadians, their families, businesses and governments to look beyond confronting the immediate effects of COVID-19. However, we must also begin looking over the horizon to the post-COVID-19 world to start planning how our country and economy can emerge stronger.
Recovery starts with resilience, which is why we have laid our key policy areas that our political leaders must consider to help ensure our businesses, and Canada, remain resilient.
Getting Canadians Back to Work - Employment may not return to pre-crisis levels at any point soon, which is why Canadians will need reskilling, upskilling and skills training programs to get them back to work. Education and training will also change, including a greater need for online learning and durable skills, with a focus on both work-integrated and lifelong learning. Ensuring all Canadians have opportunities to participate in the recovery will be essential for inclusive growth.

Our Chamber Team
We would like for you to meet the team that makes our Chamber soar to new heights!
Kristi has been our leader since August 2018 and continues to love the challenges that this role brings. Her love of people, our community, making connections and wanting people to succeed in their personal and professional lives is key to making every day a good one at the Chamber.
Arlene started at the Chamber just two weeks prior to COVID-19. Returning to the workforce, after loving her role as a stay at home mom with her two sons, only to go back to work from home and learn her new role was quite a feat! We couldn't be happier that she brings her positive, kind and caring nature to the role and is taking on all things Chamber in an open-mindset and with fabulous organization skills.
Amber is back for another summer at the Chamber office and we are delighted to have her! As a role granted to us by Canada Summer Jobs, she will be working on our Chamber's social media and meeting with our members and community on a regular basis.
