A note from Friends of Nobska President, Kathy Walrath
Dear Friends,
Our connection, although initially through Nobska, now includes the COVID-19 pandemic. Focus on the health and safety of ourselves, our families and our community provides the framework for all decisions made on the project at Nobska Light.
The construction work continues at Nobska under a safety plan implemented by Dellbrook. Access to the site is restricted under the supervision of the site manager.
Update on the work: the inside walls are up and plastered; the trim is largely finished and the first primer coat of paint is up; the lighting and bathroom fixtures will be partially completed in the next few days.
Construction will pause during the month of April to allow remediation of the soil by the U.S. Coast Guard contractor and may be affected by the pandemic. Once the Coast Guard has completed this project, we expect Dellbrook to remobilize on a smaller scale to finish outstanding items. Friends of Nobska Light (FoNL) will develop a plan to complete the final work on the house and site as fundraising permits.
The Executive Committee, along with the Capital Campaign, Finance, and Facilities committees continue collaboration on options for 2020 knowing there is a need to adjust priorities, cancel some activities, and postpone others. I will continue to update you as plans unfold.
FoNL is here for Nobska but, more importantly today, FoNL is here for you.
Best regards,
Kathy Walrath
