Need a quick laugh?
Here is one way to disinfect the mail.
Can you spot yourself and others in these "Quarantine (reaction) Stereotypes?"

"Take matters seriously, but don't take oneself too seriously." That proverb applies in so much of life, when human nature shows itself in a rainbow variety of personality reactions to the same event.

While perhaps not too funny to laugh at the family a couple of weeks ago, when the bandwidth was choked and the printer ink was dry, and when the children were climbing the walls, the scenes in this video may bring smiles now. Enjoy.

Broaden your student's college entrance opportunities

Take CLT at home June 20

The Classical Learning Test is a growing rival to the SAT and ACT college entrance-oriented tests. It is an attractive step for college-bound students to consider this month, as the big two tests struggle with offering their tests in the virus closures.

  • The CLT is billed as an excellent choice for high school students who excel in reason, logic, and reading.

  • It claims to provide the most accurate and rigorous measure of academic formation, accomplishment, and potential.

  • As such, it may really benefit Lake Pointe students by helping them to distinguish themselves from those taking the SAT or ACT alone.

In addition to the CLT, the service offers the CLT10, and the CLT 8 for younger levels.

Time is running out to join us for the June 20 CLT!
Deadline to register is June 15.
This exam is the only remote proctored, at home exam available everywhere.

CLT is offering discounts and fee waivers to families who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. Please contact [email protected] to learn more.

We're not the only ones affected by Covid-19

This summer, we can support the needs of children
and families in Guatemala
As Mr. Miller's Student Life e-mail mentioned this week, the needs in Guatemala are considerable. Lake Pointe families can continue to support Clubhouse Guatemala as a way to effectively aid the children and families that ministry serves.
Please help by praying for the people of that Central American nation and for the ministry's workers. Clubhouse Guatemala is a ministry that Lake Pointe has supported for years, including:
  • Annual Christmas Guatemala gift bag packing by elementary and secondary families.
  • Bi-annual Guatemala missions trip for secondary students (canceled this year by Covid-19)
The ministry has produced some videos to help us to be aware of some of the struggles going on currently with Clubhouse Ministries, for prayer requests and support needs. Please visit the web site here.

New Podcast:
Portable pipeline for training and info

I n support and preparation for the academy's training and encouragement emphasis this fall, a team effort has been testing and launching a menu of  audio, video, online, and secure meeting platforms.
The audio opportunity comes in the form of a podcast called, "Footsteps in Educational Ministry."  Logic teacher and head of LPA's Audio-Video production, Mr. Josh Goodwin, orchestrated the creation of the podcast.
He also arranged distribution over the normal, popular podcast outlets, like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcast, Breaker, and more. Mr. Goodwin serves as the program's producer.
According to Head of School, Mr. Louis Lemmon, the show has two major goals.
"To start, we wanted to create a channel of information to serve the various members of the LPA community," he says, "especially to help parents and teachers to better understand their roles and opportunities. Secondly, we wanted to find ways to help provide prospective families access to information about how LPA operates and feels. We're hoping that having various staff, parents, and students included in the recordings will better tell the ministry's story.
"Most of our training materials have focused upon live gatherings and printed materials," Lemmon says. "While these avenues are helpful, the podcasts allow parents and teacher to benefit from training and support topics in audio form -- which they can do while driving, doing chores, or exercising."
Lemmon says Julie DeSa got the idea from another UMS school, similar to LPA in classical approaches, in Austin, Texas. From that school's associated podcast -- and from others like it in California and Michigan -- the staff learned a great deal. This led to the academy's additional goal, which is to produce content that might also serve other educators and youth ministers, so that LPA personnel can join "the conversation" of the the Christian education and classical movements.

Student Life
Mr. Miller is planning community events for July, keeping an eye on gathering size restriction changes. He will provide more details as they become available.

I bet I can throw a rock farther than you can!  Let's talk about that.
How should Christians view  competition in athletics?

The boys soccer team won the state title in the fall.

Athletic director, Mr. Bill Spratley, took time to record a three-part series on competition. In the episodes, he discusses the roots of competition in human nature, and how Lake Pointe seeks to apply competition in the biblical training and encouragement of the entire LPA community -- including the academy's five core values:
  • Servant leadership
  • Community
  • Humility
  • Prayer
  • World evangelization --  as a "city on a hill."
Adding to Mr. Spratley's previous discussion on athletic coaching philosophy, the new series includes three related topics:
  1. A Philosophy of competition and human nature
  2. Biblical views of Christian competition
  3. How competition factors in the Mariner athletic program
Listen while in the car or exercising!

Summer sports activities
Optional summer workouts are being planned for the different team sports. Mr. Spratley, athletic director, has been working with coaches, the Lake Pointe leadership team, and outside governmental and sports organizations to arrange those opportunities.

Look for emails from Mr. Spratley, or share encouragement or questions with him with at [email protected].
