Summer Classes
Registration is now open for RVCC’s summer classes with sessions beginning May 23, June 13, and July 11. Summer is a great opportunity for college students to earn extra credits and save money and for high school juniors and seniors to jumpstart their college education.

Information Sessions
RVCC is holding both in-person and virtual Information Sessions in May, including special sessions focusing on Visiting Students, Early College, Beauty Professions, Honors College, and Paying for College. The Music Department also will be holding an Open House.

Record-Setting Giving Day
Transformed by an unprecedented $50,000 “match challenge,” RVCC had a record-setting “Giving Day” and raised $135,716 for student clubs and athletic teams, as well as a range of critical institutional programs. Last year, Giving Day raised $51,510, and in 2020, the event raised $23,635.

Congressman Tours WTC
Representative Tom Malinowski toured the College’s Workforce Training Center last month, meeting with students, faculty, and staff and learning about RVCC’s career training in such areas as Cosmetology and Esthetics, Automotive Technology, Commercial Energy Management, Welding, and Environmental Control Technology.

All-USA Academic Team
RVCC student Sangeetha Punnam is one of 20 college students in the country to be named to the prestigious All-USA Academic Team. Punnam, who is being recognized for her intellectual achievement, leadership, and community and campus engagement, will receive a $5,000 scholarship. More than 2,200 students were nominated for this award.

Pharmacy Technician Program
RVCC is offering a grant-funded Pharmacy Technician program, August 22-December 16, which will provide training for hospital or retail settings. The program will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 6-9 p.m., at the College’s Workforce Training Center.
Students will be assisted by a Success Coach to guide them through the program.

Hands-on Training in WTC
Representatives from Viega Manufacturing recently met with students in RVCC’s Environmental Control Technology (HVAC) program at the College’s Workforce Training Center.
During the session, the students received training on a variety of products and tools they will be using when they graduate and work in the field. This included working with the ProPress, MegaPress, and PureFlow PEX. The RVCC students also received credential cards for their training.

Cosmetology Student in National Program
RVCC Cosmetology student Emma McJury of Franklin Park has been selected as a member of the Beacon Class of 2022, one of the beauty industry’s most prestigious programs for students, sponsored by the Professional Beauty Association.

Robeson Achievement Awards
Middle and high school students from Somerset and Hunterdon counties were honored for their achievements at the 31st Annual Paul Robeson Youth Achievement Awards, sponsored by the College’s Paul Robeson Institute for Ethics, Leadership and Social Justice.

National College Bowl
RVCC Ophthalmic Science student Judy Quinones was named the winner of a nationwide College Bowl contest at Vision Expo East, held at the Javits Center, New York City. Vision Expo East is an annual event for ophthalmic professionals focusing on eyewear, education, and fashion.

Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Association
RVCC’s Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Association (SOTAA) has been involved with several projects this spring to assist the local community.
