We're so grateful for the opportunity to work hand in hand with our largest partner, Milwaukee Public Schools, to make sure Milwaukee students graduate with the financial education they need to succeed. MPS continues to stay ahead of the curve in financial education, now becoming only the second urban school district in the nation to require high school students to complete a personal finance course. Hear more from our President and CEO Brenda Campbell, as well as David Mancl from the WI Department of Financial Institutions, on why this is such a significant step.

Scholarship essay contest invests $51,900 in Money Coach alumni
Over 50 Money Coach alumni participated in our first ever scholarship essay contest, sharing how their lives as young adults have been impacted by what they learned in the Money Coach program. After originally planning to award 20 scholarships of $1,500 each, we ended up increasing the number of awards to 34! All participants who did not win were also given a $50 gift card. As the effects of the COVID-19 crisis continue to impact our communities, it was a priority for SecureFutures to find a way to offer direct financial support to young people as they pursue their goals amid challenging circumstances. We look forward to sharing many of the stories that our winners told so compellingly in their essays and video entries!

Thank you for your investment of time, expertise, and dedication to the work of teen financial empowerment! We look forward to the new ways many of you will continue to be involved in our shared mission in the years to come.

Desiree Cocroft offers empowering message at virtual alumni event
We also reconnected with a number of our past Money Coach participants at our recent virtual alumni education and networking event. The event featured former SecureFutures team member Desiree Cocroft, who's now a podcast host, award-winning author, and entrepreneur. Desiree shared her own financial journey and offered thoughts on how young adults can show up for themselves and work towards their financial and life goals. We're inspired by the way our past program participants continue to take advantage of opportunities like this one to stay on top of their financial game and put what they learned in Money Coach into practice!
