Dear Friends and Neighbors:

As you are no doubt aware, per the County Judge's recent mandate, most residents of Harris County are now required to wear a mask while out in public. While this order is set to expire this Thursday pursuant to Governor Abbott's recent Order, we want you to be prepared just in case.

In an effort to avoid potential fines, civil penalties, and to promote general compliance with the mandate, our office has been allocated a limited supply of disposable face masks to be distributed throughout District G. Be advised that these masks are not recommended for extended use as their effectiveness deteriorates after every use.

With over 300,000 residents in our district we, unfortunately, do not have the resources to provide everyone with a face mask - and I want to ensure the approximately 5,000 masks provided to us by the Mayor are dispersed strategically to those who need them the most.

It is critical these masks are distributed to the most vulnerable residents in District G - that includes the elderly, those with pre-existing medical conditions, and those who cannot afford to purchase masks for themselves or their family. To that end, I will not be haphazardly distributing our limited supply of face masks.

So far, that limited supply has included 1,000 masks received on Friday and 4,000 received on Monday.  All have been distributed. Below is a list of local churches, super neighborhoods, and senior living centers that have agreed to help distribute these masks. If you meet any of the criteria above and are in need of a mask please arrange for pick-up at the location most convenient for you.

I appreciate Mayor Turner providing face masks to all council members and hope that all residents of our district are able to obtain the appropriate facial coverings that are required under the new order.

The following organizations have been distributed masks (If we are allocated more masks we will update this list with new pickup locations):
Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (713) 468-8356
Ashford United Methodist Church (281) 497-1146
St. John Vianney Catholic Church (281) 497-1500
Memorial Super Neighborhood, No. 16 (713) 806-8441
Briar Forest Super Neighborhood, No. 18 (832) 606-5825
Mid-West Super Neighborhood, No. 20 (713) 299-3360

Additionally, District G staff delivered masks to the following senior and assisted living establishments:
The Forum at Memorial Woods
Eagle's Trace Senior Living Community
The Buckingham Senior Living Community
The Treemont Senior Community
Autumn Leaves of Memorial City
Tarrytown Estates Retirement Community
The Concierge Nursing Home
Parkway Place Senior Living

We have requested more masks and when they become available we will distribute them immediately. If you want a mask and are not able to obtain one from one of our groups above, please email my office and we will place you on a list and notify you when we get more masks. Further, if you know of some organization that is willing to assist in these distributions, please let us know and we will get them involved in the distribution as well.

Sincerely,
Greg Travis
