producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections Artist Competition! 

The PTA Reflections competition is NOW OPEN. The theme for 2022-2023 Reflections is "Show your Voice!!"

The categories are dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. All entries will be submitted online. Students in TK through Grade 12 are invited to create and submit original works of art in these areas. To start, please begin the application: Reflections Application and email it to Jen Rothenberg at PTYNPK@yahoo.com. Where you will receive a link to the online entry portal.

RBEF Investor Drive Blitz

1) Include the words “Jefferson Elementary” and “2022 Jog-A-Thon” within the design.

2) Must be hand-drawn with black marker (no colors/pencil), fit on one page, and be clear/legible.

3) Write your name and teacher’s name on BACK of the form.

4) Multiple entries may be submitted, each entry on a separate form.

Battle of the Books (BoB) is a voluntary, reading incentive program for students. Students will meet once a month, October through March, to discuss the different books on the reading list and prepare for the trivia battle. In March, randomized teams will be formed and students will compete in a 3-part trivia battle to test their book & author knowledge. Any student is welcome to participate in the meetings, but in order to participate in the school battle, 3^rd graders must read 8 books and 4/5^th graders must read a minimum of 15 books from the BoB list. Special recognition will be given to those who have read all the books!

Step 1: Write down or copy and paste the iCal URL for the Jefferson PTA Google Calendar -

Step 2: Tap the "Settings" icon, then scroll down and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars."

Step 3: Tap "Add Account" and select "Other".

Step 5: Fill in our Google Calendar URL (from step 1) in the Server box and click "Next." Change any settings you see fit before saving the calendar. You do not need a username or password.

Step 5: Toggle your view of the calendar by opening the Calendar app and tapping "Calendars" in the upper left corner. Tap Jefferson PTA to either display or remove calendar events.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee

National Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month – National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15^th – October 15^th to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Communities mark the achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans with festivals and educational activities. This year's theme is: "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation."

Sept 19^th-23^rd – Start with Hello week was created by Sandy Hook Promise as a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth.

Sept 21^st – World Alzheimer’s Day takes place during September, which is also World Alzheimer’s Month. In the build up to, and on the day of, many Alzheimer and dementia associations around the world host memory walks, fundraisers, awareness raising activities and campaigns to bring attention towards those in their community that are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia.
