Roslyn Public Schools

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

December 30, 2021

Dear Roslyn Families,

I want to begin by wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year. I hope you are enjoying your time with family and friends. I’m writing to reassure you that our schools will resume in-person instruction on Monday, January 3, 2022.

We know that the past few weeks have been difficult. The surge in COVID-19 cases combined with the emergence of the rapidly spreading omicron variant have left our community unsettled. Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and continue to stay in close touch with our medical director, the Nassau County Department of Health, and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

We will continue to practice extreme caution and mitigate all risks in our buildings, including: universal masking, physical distancing, good ventilation, and the encouragement of proper hand washing. Please remind your children that indoor mask use is universally required for everyone in our buildings. Also be aware that the latest CDC and NYSDOH recommendations for a shorter quarantine period does not apply to students at this time.

In addition, the District was notified by Governor Kathy Hochul that free COVID-19 Home Test Kits will be provided to us in the near future. More information will be provided to you once we receive them.

At this time, there is no requirement for students to test before the return to school January 3rd. However, I implore you to monitor your children’s symptoms and not send them to school if they are feeling ill. This is essential in keeping COVID-19 infections out of our schools and will prevent spread to others.

If Governor Hochul announces any changes to the state’s mandates, we will notify you immediately. We look forward to seeing all our students in January and encourage everyone to work together to keep our community safe in the new year.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown

Superintendent of Schools
