College of Science Summer Updates
Dr. Sean Johnson and Dr. Michelle Baker join the College of Science Dean's Office
Starting this month, Dr. Michelle Baker will serve as Associate Dean for Research and Faculty and Dr. Sean Johnson will serve as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies.

Dr. Baker is currently a professor in our Department of Biology, where she teaches general and ecosystem ecology. Her research focuses on water movement and its effects on ecosystems.

Dr. Johnson teaches biochemistry and structural biology as an associate professor in the USU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His research focuses on ribonucleic acid (RNA) surveillance and RNA helicases, among other structural biology topics.

They join Dean Maura Hagan and Associate Dean Richard Mueller following Dr. Lisa Berreau's transition to the USU Office of Research and Graduate Studies, where she now serves as Associate Vice President for Research and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies.

Gear Up for Undergraduate Research
The next deadline for USU's Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunities (URCO) grant is Oct. 15, so we wanted to highlight some of our top undergraduate researchers from the 2017-2018 academic year. Using the URCO grant to fund their investigations, these students conducted research with USU faculty and presented their research on Utah's Capitol Hill this past spring.
