Welcome to our monthly newsletter!

My dear kinship community,

I can't believe it's already been 5 months since I quit teaching and started Yoga Kinship! This experience has been terrifying, nerve-wracking, and seriously intense - but all worth it. I have to admit that that many a time I've wondered if I've made the right decision.

As you know, I had been an elementary school teacher for almost two decades! Many of you will be able to relate to work stress and absolute burnout during the pandemic, and this is what spurred me onto taking a this new direction. I felt compelled to do something that brought healing to others - and myself! So, Yoga Kinship was born.

So, here we go...a new year is upon us, and wellness and taking care of ourselves has never been more important. Please find time and space for for this, whatever that means to you. I want to thank every single person that has supported me and cheered me on. Keep signing up for classes, let me know how I can serve you better.

Wishing you wellness,

Dee x

Pranayama

Sanskrit translation: prana (vital life force), yama (control), ayama (extension or expansion). So, in Yoga, Pranayama is how we harness and move energy around our bodies to extend and expand our vital life force. Our breath is symbolic of prana, so by employing mindful and intentional breathing techniques, we are able to live healthier lives.

Try it..

Place your hands on your ribs and inhale slowly though your nose. As you breathe in, feel your side body expand. Now exhale slowly through your mouth allowing all the air to release from your body. Repeat several times through the day, increasing the length of your breath over time.

In honor of the great bell hooks (1952 - 2021)
