Worship with Us this Sunday

October 9, 2022 | 10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

Our scripture passages are Psalm 66:1-12 and Luke 17:11-19. The Psalmist lifts up some of the things God does...I don’t agree with all of them. The Gospel relates an incident Jesus had while traveling. He met ten lepers (men with leprosy). He heals them all yet only one expresses gratitude. They were all the lepers now they are the healed ones. Identity questions... who are they then and now? Who is God?

St Louis County is now at CDC Medium risk meaning masking is recommended for those who have tested positive or are in high-risk populations. Therefore, we have adjusted our recommendations.

Please participate in worship virtually via our livestream on Facebook if you have tested positive for Covid in the last 5 days.

Masks should be worn and respected for in-person worship under the following conditions:

1) You have tested positive for COVID 6-10 days ago and you still have symptoms;

2) You are in a high-risk group and/or have underlying conditions;

3) You are more comfortable wearing a mask.

In order to protect individuals and the wider community, we strongly encourage up-to-date vaccinations and boosters against all communicable diseases.

Many thanks to everyone for the get-well cards sent to our father, Bart Coleman, over his long summer in pursuit of a repaired heart. As many of you have heard, Bart passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 1st at the age of almost 94.

However, we are most thankful for the many years of friendship, support and love provided to our family since we became members of Parkway UCC 50 years ago. In Bart's final years, you allowed him to remain an active, contributing nonagenarian, never denying him the opportunity to continue being a part of the PUCC ministry. He was happy to serve as MPR chair for 2020-2022 and enjoyed overseeing the Elm Lawn Cemetery Board finances, literally until two days before his death. Bless all of you!

A five minute apple adventure! Rather fascinating!

Humor

Why shouldn’t you tell a secret in a cornfield? Because the corn has ears.

How do you fix a broken pumpkin? With a pumpkin patch!

What can a whole apple do that half an apple can’t do? It can look round.

Ponder

One day, the cremains of a man

   and his dog invited me

    to take a sabbath,

     to go to the woods

   and let “goodness and mercy”

  hound me all the days of my life

(Psalm 23:6).

While I walked the trail,

   I did not so much breathe,

    as I was being breathed.

     I did not so much know

    as I was being known.

   I did not so much love

as I was being loved;

and in the wilds,

   where all pretending

    and all pretense

     are sweated away,

    I resolved

   to breathe more deeply,

  know more deeply,

and love more deeply.
