1. Thank you for your patience!
Rita was out of the office starting April 19. She came back to work for a couple of hours a day beginning May 16 and back to her regular hours on May 31. During that time I was working solo. I fell behind in many tasks because we were putting out our directory as well as preparing for Berthoud Day and the Quilt, Art & Craft Show. I want to thank the following chamber members who came to help me when they could: Kina Palmer (Travelhound), Kathy Burcham (RE/MAX Town & Country), Michele Ballinger (Mindful), Nicole Jenkins (Aer-o Studio 3) and Marie Meier (Larimer County Workforce Center) who stopped in the office and I put her to work! I also want to thank Carrie Thompson (Business Equipment Service) who so graciously shared her intern's services. Row Pantoja, thank you for your help as well.
If you have not heard back from me, please accept my apologies. With Berthoud Day and the outdoor Quilt, Art & Craft Show behind us, we are working to get caught up on all of our tasks.
Thank you again, for your patience.

3. Berthoud Day 2016!
Berthoud Day
was on Saturday, June 4, 2016. The day kicked off with a parade at 11:00 a.m. Right after the parade, we were in Town Park with vendors, food, and music. This event was sponsored by the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce.
We had over 90 entrants in the parade, and over 65 vendors.
Lots of people brought a camp/lawn chair and enjoyed the music with us all day!
We also want to take this time to thank our many sponsors. Please take the time to look at the poster and see our sponsors for this event. We recommend that you to support these businesses.
If you took any pictures during Berthoud Day, please email them to us at bcc@berthoudcolorado.com. We will be having a
"Best Photo" Contest with a prize given to the one we choose.
Did you come to check out Berthoud's Got Talent? What a wonderful group of talented people. Congratulations to the following Top 4:
1) Moriarty-Moffitt School of Irish Dance
2) Jessica Johnson
3) Jessica and Kelly Parish
4) Ella North
Mark your calendars for next year's Berthoud Day, (always the first Saturday in June), June 3, 2017.

4. Shout out to our Members!
We want to THANK YOU, our members, for your referrals.
If every member asked one business acquaintance or friend to join us here at the Berthoud Area Chamber of Commerce, our growth rate would be amazing!
Our goal this year is to "leap" to 300 members. We are less than 30 away from our goal! If you have a referral, please email or call us with their information. We will contact them on your behalf. Also, let us know why you feel they would be a great fit for us and we will share that with them when we call.
We want to thank Maryjo Morgan with Fred's Used Websites, Pete Tomassi with Tomassi Financial Planning, David Garman with FleetPros, Tom Texiera with Thompson School District, Lisa Beard with Southpaw Nail Studio, NIck Rallo with Rallo Window Cleaning, Donna Johnson with Lady Luxe' Salon and Spa, Hilary Linnertz with Linnertz Hardwood Flooring and Bill Gilmore with Bill's Fix-It Shop for all of your referrals these last two months.

5. Business of the Month - getting caught up!
Congratulations to the
Town of Berthoud
for being nominated business of the month for MARCH.
The Town of Berthoud did an outstanding job cleaning up all of the branches from our Spring storm. They not only did it quickly, but free of charge to the residents of Berthoud. We appreciate the kindness and great response from the Town and its employees! Be sure to tell them how much you appreciate the service and great job.
The Town of Berthoud works closely with us and we appreciate having Mike Hart, Town Administrator, as an ex-officio member on our Board of Directors.
Congratulations to The Berthoud Living Center for being nominated business of the month for APRIL.
The
Berthoud Living Center was our luncheon presenter for April. They are looking for employees, so if you know of someone that loves working with people be sure to give them a call.
April Batdorf, Administrator, spent a great deal of time creating our parade flyer used at Berthoud Day. She is an Ambassador with the Chamber and we appreciate all you do to make the chamber and its events successful.
Congratulations to Nicole Jenkins with Aer-o Studio 3 for being nominated business of the month for MAY. Nicole stepped up in a major way to help Deanne at the chamber office while Rita was gone. There was no way we would have completed all the things we did without her help! She helped with the new directory, Berthoud Day and the outdoor Quilt, Art & Craft Show. Thank you Nicole!

6. Ambassador of the Month
Congratulations to the
Hiliary Linnertz
for being nominated Ambassador of the Month for APRIL! Hilary is always quick to volunteer, sit on committees, and help where ever she can. She also is always sure to bring some of her staff to set up for events! Congratulations Hilary!
We would also like to take this time to welcome Hilary to the Chamber Board of Directors. We had a vacancy and Hilary so graciously accepted when we asked. The board voted and she begins office immediately. (We will miss her as an Ambassador though.)
Congratulations to Pete Tomassi for being nominated Ambassador of the Month for MAY! Pete is a new ambassador this year, but he has been very active in the chamber. He volunteers on committees, speaks at the Personal Development Groups, attends ribbon cuttings, and other networking events! Congratulations Pete!
We appreciate all you both do to make the chamber and our events successful.

9. Get Recognized
We give out between 5-15 welcome bags a month. As a member of the BACC, you have the opportunity to have your "swag" put in these welcome bags we give to our new members at ribbon cuttings and to the new home owners in Berthoud.
Our bags right now are a little on the thin side and not very welcoming...please drop your business swag by the chamber office so we can make up new bags.
Thank you!

13. Summer Safety Tips!
1
. Families should attend community firework displays run by professionals rather than using fireworks at home.
2.
Don't use
scented soaps, perfumes or hair sprays on your child.
Avoid areas where insects nest or congregate, such as stagnant pools of water, uncovered foods and gardens where flowers are in bloom.
3. All skateboarders and scooter-riders should wear protective gear; helmets are particularly important for preventing and minimizing head injuries.
4.
Only use a mower with a control that stops the mower blade from moving if the handle is let go.
Children younger than 16 years should not be allowed to use ride-on
mowers
. Children younger than 12 years should not use walk-behind mowers. Make sure that sturdy shoes are worn while mowing.
5. Keep children informed of water safety.
Wear life jackets while on the water.
Dog owners are also reminded to protect their pets from rough waves and not to attempt to rescue their dog from a surf zone.
