COVID-19: Club Update

Dear Members,

The Board of Directors and Club Management continue to monitor the guidelines from Vancouver Coastal Health as we work through the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. British Columbia is far ahead of other major Canadian provinces in the fight against the virus and as a result of this success the province has started to re-open.

On April 9, based on our knowledge of the virus at the time, we sent Members an outline of our three month closure plan. The Board voted to reduce dues by 25% in both May and June and offered a credit equal to 25% of June’s dues to encourage members to return to the Club once it reopened.

Over the past month we have seen the curve flatten and conditions have improved. The Club has been re-opening on a controlled basis since May 8 and will be almost fully operational by June 1.

Based on this accelerated lifting of restrictions, and after careful consideration, the Board of Directors, has decided to re-establish full dues as of June 1. The Club is open and, along with being open, comes the requirement to charge full dues to cover regular operating costs.

We have successfully implemented Phases 1 and 2 of our Controlled Opening Plan, taking a cautious approach to ensure Member and staff safety. We are very pleased with how the Members have adapted to the new safety protocols.

We will implement Phase 3 starting on Monday, June 1, which includes the opening of our Bar and Grill and patio. Although we will be operating within the new capacity guidelines, we are so fortunate to have extensive patio space that will allow Members to enjoy the patio while maintaining “member distancing”. Phase 3 will also re-introduce personal training and physiotherapy back into the Club's programming. Please review the new safety protocols for each of these areas prior to coming to the Club:

Stay tuned for more information on the re-opening of the pool and main ice. Details on the new safety protocols and booking information will be sent to the Membership next week.

We continue to take every precaution to keep our Members and staff safe. We are very excited to have the Members back using the Club and we look forward to welcoming you back to your "home away from home".
