All are welcome!
Sunday Offerings : April 25, 2021
If we are going to find our way out of shame and back to each other, vulnerability is the path and courage is the light. To set down those lists of *what we're supposed to be* is brave. To love ourselves and support each other in the process of becoming real is perhaps the greatest single act of daring greatly.

Spiritual Enrichment
April's theme is Becoming
A book recommendation: Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. A new book by a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist examines how hierarchy and class are substantially intertwined with race in America.

Check out this Google Doc for spiritual exercises, videos, music, movie, and book suggestions for our theme of Becoming.

Historic Moment: 8th Principle Adopted!
The UUCSC adopted the
8th Principle on Sunday,
April 18, 2021
We had 57 Zoom screens join us for our congregational vote on Sunday! This is a historic moment, as we join dozens of other UU Congregations who are supporting its adoption by the UUA. We stand solidly against racism and move ever closer to building our Beloved Community.

“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

Our Values in Action at the State House!

The UU Legislative Ministry of Rhode Island invites you to join us via Zoom this Sunday, 4/25/21, at 2 pm to learn about some important bills in the General Assembly. This year, you can testify in legislative hearings from home, so there’s no reason not to get involved!

We’ll hear from local experts about bills addressing Gun Violence, Environmental Protection, Women’s Reproductive Rights, Black Lives Matter, Voting Rights, and Suicide Prevention.

June Speakman, Professor of Political Science at Roger Williams University and RI Representative, will give the keynote address, “Progressives in the General Assembly: Past, Present, and Future.”

Celebrate Passage and Signing of
The Act on Climate Bill!
Sunday, April 25, 12-1 PM
Roger Williams National Memorial
282 N. Main St.
Providence

Governor McKee has signed Act On Climate into law. Rhode Island is now bound to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions 45% by 2030, 80% by 2040, and net 100% by 2050. Although much work remains to meet these goals, this is a big deal, so we're going to celebrate!

Join us and advocates from Rhode Island's Climate Crisis Campaign in downtown Providence next Sunday, April 25. Sign a thank-you card for the legislators who got the job done; wear your snazzy Act On Climate t-shirt (or pick one up!); celebrate in person with fellow climate advocates.

All are welcome.
Delve Deeper
Into Earth Day
Into Institutional Racism
According to the new documentary Kiss the Ground, soil mismanagement is a societal and ecological kryptonite. Fortunately, it’s a blight that’s easily fixed — if we can upend age-old farming practices with galvanic strides.

To disrupt institutional racism, it is helpful to name it, and also help an organization or group understand where it is on its journey to becoming actively anti-racist, equitable, and oriented toward "belonging."
