Being Prolific
Since yesterday was Labor Day I don't share content on holidays.

Here's today's Writer's update:
Working in a library now and a bookstore previously I am well aware of books and authors. When I look through the stacks, I used to wonder and be surprised at writers who have the ability to write so quickly and at the same time write coherently.

I understand how that can happen now as I have finished Tales from the Terrace, now Love is Chaos (Yes I changed the title.)
I started writing Love is Chaos in March and in all of five months I wrote over fifty thousand words.

And I now have new voices talking to me. That’s the way I write. I listen to the voices (my muse) and they direct me. People ask me if I use an outline when I write.

I don’t. My characters tell me where to go and what they want. Following an outline would interfere with that ongoing dialogue.

I used to develop characters first then create a setting. Since my two Block Island books and Love is Chaos which takes place in Lisbon Connecticut where I spent much of my youth, I have seen how setting has become an important part of my writing.
I want to set my stories in places I know well, giving my story more authenticity. When someone reads something I have written I want them to experience the setting as if they are there themselves.

I write fiction but that doesn’t mean I can’t be authentic. Everyone who has read Arrivals and Departures has told me they feel like they were on Block Island while reading the book. That’s the compliment I strive for now. The sequel, For the Love of Block Island will have all the same characters returning will be available in October 2023.
Love is Chaos takes place in Lisbon Connecticut in the neighborhood I spent much of my youth in. As with Arrivals and Departures, I did my best to describe the neighborhood as I remember, populating it with as many real people who lived there at the time.

Writing is in my blood. It is the air I breathe. I considered taking two months off as I did between For the Love of Block and Love is Chaos. However my muse had different ideas and I have now started writing again. This new project will take place in Madison and Guilford, Connecticut. I look forward to seeing where this new journey carries me.

Until next month
Keep listening to your muse.
