St. Benedict’s Chapel
has a new oven!
Thanks to generous donations from the Rotary Club of Lubbock, Second B Missions Implementation Team, and some caring Second B members, St. Benedict’s Chapel has a beautiful new oven! The previous oven only had one working burner and wasn’t heating the food to safe temperatures. Our new oven will give us an advantage with food prepping capabilities and it will greatly benefit the quality and quantity of food service in a timely manner. Also, volunteer teams will have the option of preparing food onsite, which will cut down on food transport. Next Christmas, Second Baptist will have the ability to cook the turkey dinner right from the St. Benedict’s kitchen! Thank you, Second B, for helping to continue our mission to feed the hungry in our community.

As with most 20-year-old buildings, things break! On the west side of our building, in the early morning hours on January 29, the water line to our fire alarm sprinkler system sprung a leak. Repairs began immediately and were finally completed on April 20. Our damages totaled $17,400. The insurance company reimbursed us $11,000. Thanks be to God for Mike Spann, Morgan MacKenzie and the VLT for their decisiveness and diligence in negotiating with the insurance company. And thanks for your patience while we were ‘under construction’!

Blood Drive

This blood drive will be in honor of Lawrence Ramsey. (Lawrence was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is receiving chemotherapy). Permission from Lawrence and Vitalant was obtained to do this. Vitalant can no longer dedicate the blood to his benefit, but instead in his honor.

If you haven’t received the new 2B Church Directory, please call the church office at 806-783-0202 or email darcy@secondb.org.
- A marked container is outside the church south entrance doors on the sidewalk with prayer cards for pick up. Completed prayer cards can be placed in the same box to be processed and mailed.
- Yarn for prayer shawls is available at the church office. You can pick some up if you need something to do! If you know someone in need of a prayer shawl, we have a few of those also.
