Voters in Randolph County, Indiana, elected a Quaker, Dale Arnett of Lynn Friends, who also serves on the board of Quaker Haven Camp, as judge of the superior court on Tuesday. Arnett is the first Quaker to be elected judge at the county level in Randolph County history. His great-grandfather, Charlton A Peacock, was a well-known minister in Winchester Quarterly Meeting.
In addition, all Indiana voters got to vote on the retention of Indiana Supreme Court Judge Christopher Goff, who is a member at Wabash Friends and former board member of White's Residential and Family Services.

From Christian Service Committee: Friends, please be praying for each monthly meeting to be able to keep impacting their community. As we strive to serve, may we always keep Jesus Christ in our hearts. He guides us to where there is need and sorrow and fear and broken hearts. What a glorious task we are given -- taking care of folks and loving them with His abiding love.
From Advancement Committee: As we finish these final weeks of 2020, IYM continues to figure out ways to shine brightly as we serve. Give thanks for our folks who serve tirelessly through IYM ministries. Take time to let people know you are grateful for the dedication and service as they follow the call Jesus Christ gives them. For the IYM 2022 budget, we have raised $23,463 in gifts and pledges. THANK YOU!!

Many usual fund raising events are postponed or canceled, some are hosting a USFW Sunday to raise money. Tish Dain, Indiana USFW treasurer (currently assistant treasurer) is having increased health concerns and is currently in a healthcare facility. We encourage you to send her a note of cheer to C/O Miller's Merry Manor, 500 E Pickwick Dr, Syracuse, IN 46567. Also, please take note that the 2021 membership dues/assessments are due now (this includes At-Large Members). Good Morning!
A 2017 article by Melanie Curtin is titled, “Neuroscience Says Doing This 1 Thing Makes You Just as Happy as Eating 2,000 Chocolate Bars.” Can you guess what that one thing is? It’s smiling! Here are a few excerpts from the article:
Smiling has truly remarkable effects. First, doing it actually makes you feel good even if you're not feeling good in the moment. A 2009 MRI study demonstrated conclusively that the brain's happiness circuitry is activated when you smile (regardless of your current mood). If you're down, smiling actually prompts your brain to produce feel-good hormones.
Smiling is also a predictor of longevity. In a 2010 study, researchers looked at Major League baseball card photos from 1952. They found that the span of a player's smile actually predicted his lifespan--unsmiling players lived 72.9 years on average, while beaming players lived a full seven years longer.
Most images of Jesus have been influenced by the Isaiah 53 description of him as a man of sorrows, but I’m convinced he often smiled – even laughed. His first miracle was at a wedding feast where he likely was dining and dancing with the best of them, probably with a smile. He welcomed children who seemed to be drawn to him, and it’s hard to interact with children without a grin creeping across one’s face. I imagine some of his teachings elicited chuckles too. Our own Elton Trueblood wrote the book, The Humor of Christ.
Proverbs 17:22 teaches a merry heart is good medicine. While our world has serious problems, we will feel better and live longer if we follow Jesus’ example… and smile.
