Village issues RFQ for new 80th Avenue train station vendor
The Village of Tinley Park is requesting qualifications from commercial business owners interested in operating an approximately 800-square foot café within the 80th Avenue Metra train station, 18001 S. 80th Ave. The station is located just east of 80th Avenue along the Metra Rock Island commuter rail line.

The 5,400-square-foot brick station features a clock tower, a full kitchen, a great hall with a 25-foot-high ceiling, a covered drop-off area and veranda, interior booth seating, two restrooms and a fireplace.

The selected vendor will have direct access to the entire station, including the great hall. The Village is seeking a high-quality retail or service firm with an excellent operating record whose use of the train station will, in addition to serving the more than 2,400 daily Metra commuters, create a destination for residents and visitors during off-peak train station hours.

Respondents are encouraged to submit plans they believe will be in the best interest of Metra riders and the Village. The Village also encourages creative plans envisioning a variety of café services.

Restaurants encouraged to remind staff, customers to wear face coverings
The Village encourages all Tinley Park restaurants to remind their employees and customers to wear face coverings and practice safe social distancing measures. Doing so will help your customers and staff feel safe and help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Recent studies in other states have shown that premature relaxing of social distancing and mask mandates has lead to a resurgence of cases, which in turn can lead to businesses being required to shut down again (at the expense of job growth). Face coverings and social distancing not only can help prevent further spread, but can help ensure your business stays open and active.

For a list of safety recommendations, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.
SBA funds, debt relief still available
The Village would like to remind businesses that the Small Business Administration (SBA) is still offering many funding options for establishments that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding options include the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), SBA Express Bridge Loans and SBA Debt Relief. This last option is specifically for those who currently have SBA loans.

For more information, please visit the SBA website.
