Region 13 Championship Shows
The 2022 Region Sport Horse Championship and Regional Championship shows are in the books. A huge thank you goes out to show manager and leader, Jan Decker. Your tireless energy, enthusiasm and support is the basis for all our successes. Thank you also to our judges, staff, volunteers and our amazing exhibitors and sponsors. Without you all, there is no Region 13. We are so appreciative.
2022 brought some big change for the Region 14 Championships!

In case you missed it, after 30+ years, the Region 14 Championships made the move from the Kentucky Horse Park to the World Equestrian Center in Ohio.. we also made a date change! Our show was held on August 17th through the 21st.

While we had great expectations, such a big change can always leave you wondering what the future may hold...but you all showed up and showed out! We enjoyed watching some of you see the facility for the first time - and the quality of horses that attended the show were out of this world!

Ringside Productions made everything seamless in the show office. Ryan, Tony, and Bonnie are always a class act and we are so lucky to have them in our corner! And, we couldn't go without recognizing the lady that makes it ALL happen, Cindy Clinton! We are blessed to have her and we hope you give her a high five and an extra thank you when you see her next - she is the one that makes it all happen!

With this move and location, we lost some of our long time volunteers - we missed you. But, this gave an opportunity for some new faces to rise up to the challenge. Many of you stepped in without even being asked, and for that we are grateful. There is no way we could have made this show the success it was without you!

Our sponsors really stepped up to this plate to ensure that our show was extra special! We had many of you, but those that went above and beyond were:

Bud Hillsamer - Coffee & donuts each morning
Signature Oaks - Pizza party
Proud Heritage- Cookies
OHAHA & Buckeye - Unanimous Winner Cups
Cloud Nine - $500 Gift Certificate
Platinum Heirs - Giant Giraffe Lead Line Prizes
A big thank you to our pre show and regional judges for their time and dedication. Dressage entries were so large that 2 additional judges were hired last minute, too!

Dana Dill Coffey, Karen Homer Brown, Donna Richardson, Sophie Bayer, Fatima Pawlenko-Kranz, Van Jacobson, Kim Morgan, Sherri Odom, Jennifer Benoit, and Karen Winn. You were amazing!
Our Regional Youth Director, Kate Bonafede, made sure the youth at the show had something fun to do outside of the show ring. Kate hid golden horse shows throughout the facility for fellow youth attendees to find. Once they were found, Kate rewarded them with some fun prizes from AHA and Region 14. How fun!
Thank you to the exhibitors, trainers, and farms that stuck it out with us for this change. You made this happen! We had great weather, a phenomenal facility, a little bit of fun, a whole lot of laughs, and one heck of a horse show!
See you next year!
NEW this year at Region 14 was the inaugural 3 year old Stakes Classes. These classes were started with our youth at top of mind, with proceeds from these classes going to our regional youth programs. We offered classes for Arabians and Half-Arabians in hunter, western, and country/English. We look forward to continuing to grow these classes! Many thanks to Strawberry Banks, Bob & Lisa Corbin, Lindsey O'Reilly French, and Lin Fuller for their generous donations!
Several members from KARABS recently volunteered as balloon setters at the KY Cowtown Rangers Mounted Shooting competition in Williamstown, Kentucky on August 13th. Club members volunteered and the money that was earned working the event along, with cash donations, collected were used to make a $440 donation to the Appalachian Horse Project in hopes to support those affected by the floods. KARABS Vice President, Cindy Ryan, stated, "While our club members own mostly Arabians and Half-Arabians, our hearts and prayers go out to all horse owners impacted by the flooding"
Below are some photos of our members working at the mounted shooting event.

In addition, Region 14 directors voted to make a $500 donation directly to the Appalachian Horse Project for support of the 2022 equine flood victims of eastern Kentucky. We know these are very trying times and it is important to us to be able to help lend a hand to those within our communities. Several Region 14 members have also stepped up to donate their time in the ongoing clean up efforts.
